July 24, 200422 yr we need a right fielder 473302 Can we please stop with this 'Cabrera should be in left' stuff? Miggy didn't play gold glove defense in left last year. He's only playing a little worse in right this year than he did last year in left. Cabrera's future is in the right field. He's got an arm that can't be wasted in left. If you move him, what happens next year? Does Conine/Willigham/Aguila take over right? Yeah right. The only guy we have in the system who could play right, Jeremy Hermida, isa few years off and may not even pan out. Cabrera's going to have to learn to play right field, and moving him to left for 2 months isn't going to help. 473353 This coming from the guy who wanted to send Dontrelle Willis to the pen for Tommy Phelps? :lol Cabrera has been atrocious all year long defensively...he wasn't last year ( in right or left). While I agree his arm shouldn't be wasted, if he cant handle right field he just can't handle it My predicitions: Assuming this is just for fun and not to be taken too seriously. Marlins acquire Toby Hall and any of Jesus Colome, Danys Baez or Lance Carter for Jason Stokes and a B level prospect. Hall is an outstanding defensive catcher, probably one of the best in the league. hitting in the .290s, and an UNREAL .431 with RISP, which has gone under the radar because of Johnny Estrada. He also crushes LHP. Baez/Carter or Colome would help an erratic bullpen, my preference would be Carter or Baez as they are more consistent than Colome. 2nd deal: Marlins acquire Jeromy Burnitz for Bill Murphy and Abraham Nunez Burnitz is definatley a Coors product this year, but nonetheless a huge upgrade over Conine in left. He can play all 3 outfield positions, so if (god forbid) something happened to Juan Pierre there would be some backup plan. No one will dare argue that his numbers arent inflated, but he would still make a solid, middle of the order bat, is VERY affordable ($1,250,000) and best of all, a lefty. 3rd deal: Marlins acquire Mike Myers for Nate Bump. Again, not a great option, but respectable veteran that LHP are only hitting .220 on. Lineup: Pierre Castillo Lowell Cabrera Burnitz Hall Gonzalez Choi Gonzalez hits much better in the 7th whole than 8th and putting the two lefties back to back is not a good idea. Hall hits well with runners on, anyway, so I'd prefer him higher in the lineup than Hee Seop. Bullpen would also look respectable with Manzanillo, Myers, Howard, Koch, Baez/Carter, Perisho, Benitez. Flame away :peepwall
