Castro hitting

Featured Replies

Opening Day catcher Ramon Castro, who has been on the disabled list since June 2 with an inflamed big toe, hit off a tee in the indoor batting cages at Pro Player Stadium on Monday.

Castro has not been around the team since he removed himself in the bottom of the second inning of the June 1 game, against the Reds.

"I hope I can come back soon," he said. "My teammates are four games back."

Castro hopes to regain his hitting touch and become a factor down the stretch, but exactly if or when he will return is undetermined. He resumed baseball activities only last week and still wears a walking boot to help heal the injury, which, essentially, is turf toe.

Castro said that he could begin playing in game situations in a few weeks at Jupiter, where he has been doing his rehab. He was batting .135, with three home runs and eight RBIs.

At catcher the Marlins are carrying Matt Treanor, who is hitting .277, and Josh Willingham is a promising hitter who can catch and play left field.

I would not mind seeing him back...as long as he starts playing damn well. Treanor or Willingham need to play more in the minors and Red needs the backup.

I have no faith in him, and I do not think we will see him back with the team this year

I know, but if he could get in order and return like he was expected to play this season...even as a pinch hitter...when rosters expand, I would not be against it.

Well, I'm all for giving him one more chance. Thats all he gets. If he doesn't work out, sorry Kobe...er Castro.

What ever happened with his trial or accusations or whatever it was?

Wow..low average, if he could pick that up he'd be good off the bench at a minimum.
