August 8, 200422 yr McKeon gets 900th win By Joe Capozzi Sunday, August 08, 2004 MIAMI GARDENS ? Ismael Valdez is scheduled to make his next start Friday in Milwaukee, so excuse the new Marlins right-hander if he already is feeling a bit giddy. In his first start since being traded to Florida last weekend, Valdez dominated the Brewers for the third time this season, allowing just two hits in six innings Saturday in a 5-0 Marlins victory that gave Jack McKeon his 900th managerial win. "I'd like to get 900 more wins," the 73-year-old McKeon joked, "but I don't know if I can last that long." Noteworthy: McKeon is the seventh active manager to reach 900 wins, joining St. Louis' Tony La Russa, Atlanta's Bobby Cox, the Yankees' Joe Torre, Tampa Bay's Lou Piniella, the Mets' Art Howe and the Cubs' Dusty Baker... Bobby Bonilla holds the Marlins' franchise record for grand slams in a season, three in 1997. Link to Full Article Congratulations Jack.....that's a very elite group you just joined. :thumbup
