August 18, 200422 yr depends on how you look at the quote: ? The Marlins still like their system's pitching depth even after trading Brad Penny and prospect Bill Murphy as part of the deal for Paul Lo Duca, whom Marlins pitchers love throwing to. GM Admin Beinfest believes Double A right-hander Trevor Hutchinson will be ready to compete for a spot in the rotation in the spring. :plain i got this qoute from a stroy in the stadium forum.
August 18, 200422 yr Well, we do have Valdez's spot open most likely. 516942 i forgot about that loser's spot. :lol nevermind.
August 18, 200422 yr I hope he means Valdez's spot :o Not my Pavy :mad : :mad : :mad : :mad : :thumbdown :mad : :thumbdown
August 18, 200422 yr I dont see why you would be saying bad news for pavano fans because pavano is our ace this season.it should be bad news for valdez fans or bad news for someone else fans but not pavano when he has been pitching like a stud.
August 18, 200422 yr He'd have to beat Nate Bump and Justin Wayne, no easy task. 516990 well, the nate bump part shouldn't be too hard.

August 18, 200422 yr If there is one team that could chase Pavano away from Marlins is the O's. Looking for an amount that Pavano might be looking for... look at Freddy Garcia got from the White Sox. As of today August 18th the chances of Pavano staying with the Fish.I'd put it at 70/30 he stays in teal.
August 18, 200422 yr I've been saying this since the trade that if Hutch pitches well from here on out he will be the #5 starter. He started the year solid but hit a bump and just pitched horribly for a while. I don't think this has anything to do with whether Pavano is signed or not.
August 18, 200422 yr "potentially bad news for pavano fans" wouldnt it be "potentially bad news for marlins fans"?

The guy I feel has a better chance to stick in the rotation in a year is Olsen. I could see a Dontrelle-like call-up in the middle of season. :thumbup

I don't know if any of you saw the blurb in Sunday's Sports section....i don't remember word for word but it was really nice and it quoted Pavano saying that he really likes the team and that money doesn't buy happiness. Basically it sounded to me like he loves the team and loves playing here and wasn't only looking to increase his paycheck. I like to hear that stuff.....unfortunately when the time comes it may be different. I always wonder when athletes get traded and move around....don't they ever have allegiance or true feelings for a team and a city or is it really all about the money???? I'll see if I can find the article and post it.
