Cabrera is just not meant to be an outfielder.....? we need to find him a spot in the infield...maybe move Conine to the OF and put Cabs at 1b?

My feeling is if you can't catch the ball in the OF, you won't make a great IF either.

uhhhh no, Cabs has been a 3rd baseman his whole life....that's his natural position...

and Sheffield's "natural" position is SS

your point?

and isnt Cabs "natural" position SS anyway?

My point is I never saw him play when he was younger or in the minors for that matter. But the word was he was a GREAT infielder (3B or SS) and that is what I heard..... if I am wrong then fine, but he is obvioulsy having a hard time in the OF why is that so hard to accept... and I suggested that if his struggles continue outthere that maybe a switch back to the infield would be best.

Admin, Cabrera needs to make plays like the one he missed there. He had glove on it and misplayed it. We didn't win last year only because of offense, the defense was a bigger factor.

and all Im saying is cut the kid a break, he is 21.... he will keep getting better....

Nah....not stellar D.....?? but he is not even playing good D in the OF ...8 errors on the year...

522633[/snapback]

Find me another guy who can rake like him that plays good D then.

Good luck.

Oh, and is 21.

Admin, no doubt Cabs is a badass with the bat, and I know he will get better in the OF, but if we got a chance to put him in a defensive position where he would be better and feel more comfortable than I would do it. But I don't make those decisions obviously so this is just my opinion....

Then stop making excuses, he is 21, at that age you should be able to catch a baseball properly on a fly out. His lack of concentration and bad tracks to the ball in the outfield can be fixed with proper coaching. They need to spend more time with him in the outfield catching balls in the sun and the lights.

I wasn't making excuses as much as I was defending Cabrera on here. Lay off him a little, so he made a blunder -- he isn't the first and isn't the last to. He'll improve, for now forgive him and move on.

great ab by easley he didnt swing much but still as long as u get on base who cares how u did it

man I love Easley, being aggressive on the basepaths and taking 2b on a wild pitch

Even if he hits a homer, his defense is his weakness. It needs work and once it gets fixed, he will be the complete player he can be. I am not hating on him, I want him to be better. That's not too much to ask.
