Juan Gonzalez said tonight that he still hasn't officially decided whether to accept a trade to the Expos.

Gonzalez has until Saturday morning to make his decision. He was again out of the Texas lineup tonight

they said it on espn that he officaly said no, but nothing is official until the waiting period is over

he and minaya are awfully close and juan gone may not help the spos much if he has a rug ill. The Expos travel a lot and have turf in Montreal and San Juan. Juan is not that young and he may get injured quickly.

i think he would accept a deal to miami quicker than montreal

Besides he could struggle in the NL like Alomar or Pudge(lets be honest he's healthy and is not producing like expected)

The only reson he hasn't officially said no is because Minaya is flying down there to try to talk him into it. (Which means offer him more cash)

Minaya was the person that sign Juan Gonzales to his firts major league contract and the expos have 6 or so games left to play in Puerto Rico and they have a lot of hispanics playing in the teami say he may change his mind and try the expos may the change from the Amercian to the National will actually be better for him who nows it may showcase his talent and get a better contract with some other team plus the Rangers won't sign him next not to a long term hi is looking for it may be his final long term contract long term meaning more that one year he could settle for three years, I think hi is going to Montreal

Juan's Agent said Yesterday that he is going to say No but he might change his mind but think he is staying over there. We can afford to let him go to the Expos....

I think in the end whether he goes or not is a non-issue. The Expos have already begun to fade. You can't expect any team to eat up that kind of schedule and not get run down. Juan isn't the answer for them. I'd give even money right now that he misses at least 10 of the remaining 90 Spos' games due to injury if he does approve the trade.

 

As for the Puerto Rico aspect of the Juan Gonzalez trade.... THere is no way Juan stays with the Spos for more than the rest of the season, so essentailly it's 6 games in PR. That's like saying we should go after a player who is originally from the Philly area, just because we play there a few more times this season.
