September 23, 200422 yr notice the ones in capital letters. i think they r the winners. especially the first one :thumbup
September 23, 200422 yr Author even though cabs is my favorite player, i think jp wins. reason 1, 202 hits, do i have to say more reason 2 every game he shows heart. plays 110%. reason 3 first one to the stadium everyday ready to work reason 4 gets the team energetic and pumped up
September 23, 200422 yr I think it has to go to Benitez because if we had kept Looper, you have to figure that we lose at least 3 of those games to the Mets (especially the Floyd one), and there's no way in hell he shuts the Phillies out in the greatest save I have ever seen. Essentially, we're out of it by August. Of the position players, Pierre, with a nod to Cabrera, but Benitez runs away with it in my mind. I just hope we keep him. The more I'd think about it...I'd actually rather see us keeping Benitez, seeing what we can do with Pavano, and then seeing if we can get Milton or Lowe for less than Pavano.
September 23, 200422 yr For me: 1. Benitez 2. Cabs 3. Pierre (very close to Cabs on #2) Pierre had a huge slump when we gave up the division lead and it was downhill after that. I'm not blaming that on him, but I'm just pointing out the consistency factor. Benitez was solid 100% of the season.
September 23, 200422 yr Clearly Pavano, Benitez, and Cabrera are the 3 MVPs this year, just depends on which order you'd like to rank them. Everyone else is a distant 4th. Lo Duca was only here half a season. Conine slumped the first half, Lowell tailed off the 2nd half. JP had a good season, although his steal numbers really dropped. Castillo had a good year. Alex had an "Alex year". AJ did as well as we could've hoped. Willis & Josh could've done better.

September 23, 200422 yr Without Benitez, we are a nice bit under .500. If it weren't for hesitation to use him games where we lost because of the rest of the bullpen couldn't get the job done, who knows where we would be. This team is under .500 with almost any other closer.
September 23, 200422 yr Imo it is Benitez....the guy has been light out... Does anyone agree with me that Lowell had a down season...i thought he was going to put up much better numbers,am not saying he had a bad season cause he didnt but i expected more...
September 29, 200422 yr We would have been in the same position as the Mets all season long had it not been for Pavano, he is WITHOUT A DOUBT the MVP of the 2004 Florida Marlins.
