Maybe, but I am sure Kobe had much better opportunities than that white girl.

Dont get wrong now, Vanessa Bryant is one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen, she is down right HAWT

In that pic at a basketball game, about half the guys are looking at her and not the game :lol Can't blame them.

She's one of the hottest women I've seen. What's her ethnicity. I love her exotic look. The life of an NBA player must rock. Nailing hundreds of the hottest women in every NBA city in North America and then having an amazing woman at home.

(yawn)

She looks good, so what? There's millions that look just as good. I don't see the big deal, personally.

I always thought she was half Hispanic and half Black. That's why Kobe's parents were upset when he went with her.

KOBE BRYANT?S DAD NOT HAPPY WITH KOBE?S WIFE: Article in the Los Angeles Times exposes rift between father and son.

E-mail to a friend | Printer friendly (May 2, 2003)

*Kobe Bryant?s father, Joe Bryant, did not

attend his son?s wedding two years ago. The elder

Bryant has not seen Kobe?s three month old daughter,

Natalia, and he has never been to Kobe?s new home.

These are just some of the details of a father-son rift

that was made public in a Los Angeles Times article

last Sunday.

According to the article, Kobe confirms that his

father is unhappy that his wife Vanessa is Latina and

not African-American. The Laker player also confirms

that his dad is uneasy about Bryant?s strong devotion

to Vanessa. But if this is true, Joe Bryant will not state it on

the record.

?I?m cool with Vanessa, put that on the record,?

he said. ?When Kobe made a decision to be with someone

he cared about, Pam [Kobe?s mother] and I decided

it was time to back off, that?s all it was.?

Kobe and Vanessa met on a video shoot. They married

shortly thereafter, when he was 21 and she was 18. At the

time that Bryant announced his intention to get married,

it was widely rumored that Laker coach Phil Jackson

and others attempted to talk him out of it.

But Kobe did marry in 2000 and in January this year

he and his wife celebrated the birth of their first child.

By all accounts, Bryant appears to be a devoted and

loyal husband.

?It?s right there in the Bible,? he said to the Times.

?When you get married, your mother and father and sisters

are no longer the priority. Your wife and daughter are the

priority. That?s the way it has to be.?

Bryant admits, however, that he misses his father.

?Sure, I miss my father. Who wouldn?t miss his

father?? he said. ?Sure I hope we can get back together.

When the time is right, if he wants to come and sit down

and discuss things, we can do that.?

Until that day arrives, Bryant will endure the estrangement.

He admits that basketball has served as a release

for him.

?The court has become my psychologist. It?s my

time to get away from all the hassles and problems,? he said.

He also admits that when he was spotted crying with the trophy

two years ago, after the Laker?s second championship, that he was

crying about his father. His family had not been to the wedding

that year and his dad had not attended any of the championship

games.

?Yeah that was about my dad,? he said. ?It had been such

an awful year for me, so hard. I want a father. I want my father.?

But like many fathers, Joe Bryant has his beliefs and he?s

sticking with them.

?Twenty years from now, when his own child grows up,?

he?ll understand what I?m doing,? Joe Bryant said.

Meantime, on the hardwood, Kobe led the Lakers

to victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves and advanced

to the 2nd round of the NBA playoffs. They meet San Antonio

on Monday.
