July 1, 200322 yr Author The Mutts r giving up. They dont want a 2B rental like castillo with a large price tag.
July 1, 200322 yr Here's the link: ESPN Report: Mets will eat remainder of contract -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ESPN.com news services NEW YORK -- The New York Mets traded second baseman Roberto Alomar to the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday for three prospects. New York received minor league pitchers Royce Ring and Edwin Almonte and infielder Andrew Salvo. The Mets will eat the $3.9 million left on his contract this year, the New York Daily News reports. The deal ended Alomar's disappointing 1? years with New York and was the first trade by Mets interim general manager Jim Duquette. Alomar, a bust in his one-plus seasons with New York, is hitting .262 with two homers and 22 RBI this season. Alomar had been one of former Mets general manager Steve Phillips' high-profile acquisitions two winters ago, but the deal that included outfielder Matt Lawton, infielder Alex Escobar and left-hander Billy Traber being shipped to Cleveland never paid dividends for the Mets. Alomar's brother, Sandy Jr., has played three-plus seasons for the White Sox. Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
July 1, 200322 yr Not really Alomar is old and doesn't have nearly as much skills as he did 5 years ago. He's in the minors.
July 1, 200322 yr thats your opinion. he will now be back in the AL and will be with his brother......i expect his production to go up(not like he used to be) but alot better the White Sox 2nd baseman D'Angelo jimenez has really struggled so this can only help
July 1, 200322 yr I agree with Ramp. He has not done well since coming to the NL. While he may not return to the player he was, I think he will put up much better numbers in the AL. And he didn't do too shabby the last time he and his brother were together (something to keep your eye on.) later........
July 1, 200322 yr this is good 4 Robby he is now back in the AL where he will tear it up... i truley belive that NY mystic f***ed up his carrer the media and the preaure... now that is back in the AL and out of NY he will do good again he is not old!!!!! this is the same guy 2 yearago that was the best 2nd basemen in the game... Great move 4 the CHI SOX hope they can make there little run in that weak a** division!!!!! Last eyar SOX had Ray DUrham tarded him 4 what????? NOTHING! this year they dont have a 2b why cuz they gave up Durham makes no sense but than again Durham was a Free Agent after the year so it made sense why the Sox departed from him..... by da way on this muts deal???? they said the must will eat up 3.9 mil meaning?????
July 1, 200322 yr Thank the lord that aging, declining, now crappy 2B is not coming to the Spos. Thank god. Odom, the Mets are paying all of his salary..
July 1, 200322 yr meaning the Mets ate the rest of Alomar's contract in excahnge for 3 minor leaguers, 1 in which is supposedly a very good reliever prospect(Royce Ring)
July 1, 200322 yr Thank the lord that aging, declining, now crappy 2B is not coming to the Spos. Thank god. Odom, the Mets are paying all of his salary.. R you serious????? meaning the SHY SOX basicly get em 4 free by giving up some HIGH prospects??? who do u think got the better part this deal.. i know 1 the prospects was a 1st round pick... but damn too me the Sox look they got the better part this deal any you know when Alomar is a free agent?
July 1, 200322 yr he is a free agent in 2004 pretty even deal, Mets probably lose because they eat the salary but that Rng guy could be good down the line
July 1, 200322 yr I agree..it's pretty even. If Alomar goes back to previous form(before 02) ChiSox win for now...but that Ring guy has future closer written all over him
July 1, 200322 yr I believe Robbie will do much better on the AL White Sox. It is a win win for Alomar and WSox. Mets may get lucky with the prospects. But Alomar was a big bust for them.
