:lol :lol :notworthy

I think he is gonna sign with the sox...marlins not enough money and the baltimore orioles suck..sorry to say

orioles have awesome hitting...but no pitching.

If Pavano leaves will you Marlin fans be as bitter to him as you are to Pudge? What about Lowell?

No offense to the question, I just know that a lot of Marlin fans really look down on Pudge for signing a bigger contract elsewhere.

This is a totally different situation than Pudge, you can't even compare them.

1) Pudge was shown 0 respect by the rest of baseball, we were his only option to play for a young competitive team. Did I expect us to win the World Series last year? Hell no, but I think going into 2003 we knew that if Beckett, Burnett and Penny matured, we could at least finish above .500 with a few breaks, so he didn't completely "whore" himself, he took the one year deal as a shot to "prove himself."

2) Pudge's 2003 was a substandard regular season, .297 16 HR 85 RBI are not overwhelming numbers, and certainly not numbers that show any reason to commit $40 million over 4 years to a catcher with injury issues, while Pavano's walk year this year was either a fluke or the expected maturation of talent, depending on who you talk to.

3) Pavano knows that he will get offers close to or exceeding $10 million a season because he is the most desired FA at his position (meaning that for him to stay with us will likely require him taking a discount), while last year, Pudge was debateably, the second most desireable behind Javy Lopez. More importantly though, when Pudge cut off negotiations with us, everyone was scratching their head why, not just Marlins fans. He wasn't expected to get a contract of that value from anywhere else, or the opportunity to play "at home," so his departure was about pure greed.

It took the worst team in baseball admittedly overpaying to lure FA's to get him the money he wants...Pavano won't have to settle for that.

And as for Lowell, I'd be more bitter at the front office, Pudge I split the blame between Loria/Samson (who allegedly tried to make the deferred payments we owe Pudge part of his future salary meaning that we wanted to make 2003 a $3 million salary, not $10 million) Pudge and Boras.

Pavs and Lowell is always be great Marlins in my books regardless of what happens.

I think both want to stay and would if the Marlins give a competitive contract and show signs of improving the team to keep us a contender.
