I'm 100% positive the proposed amendment neither says nor implies anything about the legal status of embryos or fetuses.

Here is my logic. If we say our minors are not given all the liberties we get, then they are not equal citizens. Then how can pro-life people argue embryos should have all the rights adult americans have if we don't even give the same rights to minors?

Minors lack many of the freedoms that adults have because in fact they have a separate legal status: they are minors.

They can't vote until they reach a certain age.

They can't drive until they reach a certain age.

They don't have the right to bear arms on their own until they reach a certain age.

They can't drink.

They can't buy their cigs.

They can't have sex with whomever they want.

They're forced to go to school.

They can't work (much).

Their parents must be notified when they get in trouble. (In other words, they have less of a right to privacy than adults.)

They can't enter legal contracts on their own.

I have never, ever heard anyone try to suggest that regulating the "liberties" of minors could set precedent on the legal status of embryos. It doesn't even make sense. I'm not a lawyer so perhaps FF or someone else can chip in, but I can say I personally have never heard anything like that before.

Of course minors have a different legal status than adults.

In effect, one could make the argument you're making every time any law is passed that reaffirms that minors are not adults.

Well not from Florida nor can I vote :plain

Yet if I could my moms ballot would be the same as mine. Arlen Spector(As much as I hate not giving John support for The Senate, Spector's done way too much for this state to throw him aside), everything after that is Democratic.

Guys like Spector and McCain could be the best Reps for Kerry to reach across the aisle to.

Further thoughts on Amendment 1:

If girls have to let her parents know and she doesn't want to, you will see more girls trying to do abortions on themselves. Are you okay with that? (aimed to anyone who supports amendment 1)

Since murder's outlawed, it's also less safe.

Come the f*** on dude.
