After a period of stagnation, bringing in a new coach and some good talent on both sides of the ball, they will succeed. The Fins are coming off a 2 or 3 win season next year. It wont happen.

They also lack salary cap room, draft picks, and (for now) a front office/head coach. I don't think there is a franchise in worse shape in all of pro sports. That said, Shaun Alexander sounds like he wants to play here. I certainly won't discourage him. The man's done a bang-up job on my fantasy team this season. But the team really needs to spend any FA money fixing up that O-line.

Only people that might be free are Walter Jones (SEA) and Chris Samuels (WAS). If anything, to get OL talent, you have to go through the draft and develop it. If we win 2 to 3 games this year then we'll be around the third or fourth pick and we'll get Alex Barron. I just can't see us signing FA OL considering our draft position.

That was one of the most common complaints by people who wanted Wanny fired. In any case, the two guys you mentioned are a pretty good start. Fact is, the team isn't going to be able to sign ANYONE unless they send a lot of people on the defense packing. So, it may not be worth much discussion.

During a telephone interview Wednesday with reporters who cover the Dolphins, the Seahawks' opponent Sunday at Qwest Field, Seattle's prolific running back was asked about playing in Miami next season. Alexander, scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in March, said, "My wife and I talked before the season started about possible trades and things like that. Florida is one of her favorite states to visit, so it's possible. It's a business, so we'll do what's best for our family and future. If it happens to be Miami, it'll be exciting." After practice yesterday, however, Alexander reiterated something he has been saying since training camp. "This is where I want to be, and everybody knows that," he said. "So for me, it's really simple. The people upstairs have stuff to do, and let's leave it at that." Those people would be club president Bob Whitsitt, general manager Bob Ferguson, coach Mike Holmgren and director of player administration Jay Nienkark, the resident salary cap expert.
