December 14, 200421 yr Didnt Ward choose Basketball over Football? Id love to eanr a million riding pine in N.C Stop hating on the 'Noles.
December 14, 200421 yr Author Wuerffel could have earned millions riding the pine somewhere, but chose to do something else with his life. I don't ever remember Ward choosing anything. Notice who posted the "failed Heisman" winners and then who was on that list...a Hurricane and Gators qb...maybe I'm looking into it too much.
December 14, 200421 yr We could debate this all day, but I believe Ward didnt get drafted because of the chance of him going ot the NBA. It takes a helluva an athelete to excell well at both sports at such a high level. You still mad about the 446 and 4 TD's he dropped on u guys in 93?
December 14, 200421 yr Wuerffel was force to chose another career because he blew. Taken in the fourth round by New Orleans in 1997, Wuerffel played for the Saints until 2000. He went on to play for the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears, but his arm strength, lack of mobility and skills have never translated to the pro level.

And that '93 game did suck, but I was like 9 years old. I was aware, but NOT THAT aware. Wuerffel did blow in the NFL. A lot of guys have. He still could have sat the bench somewhere though.
December 14, 200421 yr I thought it was hilarious how only the failed Heisman winners from the 1990's were there. Gino Torretta, Rashaan Salaam, Eric Crouch, Danny Wuerffel, and I think there was another. 633895 Chris Weinke and Charlie Ward would have fit right in. 634554 Charlie Ward never even entered the NFL Draft. When he could've went pro, the NFL was still in love with the "statue with a cannon" style QB. I guarantee you that if Charlie Ward had come around in 2000 or later, he'd be a lock for a 1st round pick. He has good enough size, speed, and had the intelligence to play the position. Also, Charlie Ward at least was the starting PG for the Knicks when they went to the Finals in 1998.

And of course the loveable Doug Williams who was asked, "How long have you been a black quarterback?" I think the guy could have just asked how long he has been a quarterback because once a guy is black, I think he tends to of been black his entire life, unless you are Jacko.
