December 19, 200421 yr The team was hopeful that left-hander Franklyn Gracesqui would pitch in the Dominican Republic, but that plan was derailed a week ago, as Gracesqui underwent shoulder surgery. The reliever is expected to be sidelined for up to six months. Despite pitching with a sore arm for much of last season, Gracesqui earned a save at San Francisco in his debut with the Marlins. If healthy, he was in line to compete for a relief spot in Spring Training. link
December 20, 200421 yr I would've preferred him to start the season at AAA, but with the shape our bullpen is in, he probably would've been needed with the big club.
December 20, 200421 yr This is still sad news, Gracesqui could have been useful out of the pen at some point next season.
December 21, 200421 yr I think this just increases the need for the team to sign a left-handed reliever that isn't Chad Bentz.
