Ok some of you may know, I think most movies suck and are wastes of time.

 

Thru this summer more and more disappointments have been rolled out...

 

The Hulk

Matrix Reloaded

T3(saw it today, Sucked except for Claire Danes and the ending)

 

The list goes on and on but...

 

Finally an amazing movie was rolled out, It's name Pirates of The Carribean(sp)

 

For one if you won't go because it's a disney movie, Your an idiot. This movie completly sheds Disney's hokie image. They did not go to their smaller distributors that are known for it's R rated films such as Touchstone and Miramax.

 

Their is a healthy amount of violence but you rarelyt get gory graphics, you do see blood in some aspects such as shootings in the chest but...

 

Images such as Slitting of throats and shooting people in the head are shown but you do not see the gore.

 

Now on to other aspects.

 

In the words of Jack Sparrow, "It's bloody brilliant" Johnny Depp has never played this good of a role since, well actually I can't remember. This has to be the best performance in his career which is a lot to say of this man.

 

Orlando Bloom did a decent job nothing spectacular and played The Knight in Shining Armor role very well compared to other big names.

 

Kristen Knightley(sp?) from Bend it Like Beckham, one word... HOT!

 

Rush is another guy who had a virtuoso performance, He played his role simply amazing. Even though he was the villian you couldn't hate him in fact you hated The British Commander more. Their was no one who could have been casted who would have done a better job. He did role of the humorous villian perfect.

 

Now the best part of this movie hands down was The Visuals. From the perfect battle scenes in the caves where Depp and Rush would change from ghost to flesh when diffrent angles of the moon hit them was stunning! Another thing, The Fight scenes were much better than the sterotypical Matrix scenes. The Fight scenes alone deserve your 8 bucks.

 

The towns were laid out perfectly from the elegance of the richer part of town, to the grungy scenery in the slums, The Ships were stunning mostly during battle, You really felt as if you were in The Ocean.

 

The only thing I did not like in this film were The Cheesy Disney Jokes and of course The Funny Ghosts, lay off the humor disney next time you do An Action/Adventure because your first real test using actual violence was masterful.

 

Rating is 4.5 out of 5

Who has seen it? I feel like discussing it

i promise i'll go see it this weekend. i've heard wonders of johny depp's performance and from the previews this character is not far from the one he played on chocolat, which he performed wonderfully.

I wanted to see it anyway but was maybe thinking of waiting till it came to the dollar movies. Thanks for bumping it to the top of the list. I'll go check it out this weekend.

this movie was longer than it needed to be

 

depp did very well in this movie .. only thing is that the herky jerky motion is very similar to his fear and loathing type character ... made me feel like i was drinking by the end of watching it for 2+hours

 

overall a pretty good movie .. definitely liked it better than the matrix (which all 3 people i went with fell asleep during)

 

i'm not against comedic relief, but the action never hit that high point where it was warranted

 

the sword fights were pretty cool ... the one at the beginning with depp and orlando was very well done ... as was the finally

 

a lot of the fighting was for show as the dark pirates couldn't die

 

i think movie would of been really good if they shaved 40 minutes off it

 

would recommend it over some of the other crap out there now

 

i went in with negative expectations and walked away happy with it

Nah, it needed to be long.

 

I hate short adventures.

 

A good adventure needs to be long and this hit the spot. I agree some parts seemed to be repeats but I still loved it.

i didn't think it was that much of an adventure .. there were some plot twists ... maybe if the actual tracking of the pearl led to drama and then they ended with a crescendo when they finally caught it i could of gone for the extra time .. run the seperate stories (british boat, pearl and capt. jacks crew) and let them all collide in the end ... but is seems like they could of finished it and then just kept adding on to tie up this or that
