UK Fan need Help
my team over there is chelsea ... got into them while living in london for a few months loved the leeds chant from a few years back "beckham, beckham, beckham - does she take it in the arse?!" ... or quite simply "posh spice takes it in the arse" .... the chants that led to his throwing the "v" at the crowd ... good stuff and cricket has rules aside from showing up and drinking yourself into a coma?

Hank: "Marlins vs. the World."
the marlins are turning heads .. on the espn poll about potential WS matchups about 40% of the fans voted on a matchup involving the marlins also i've talked to many people who are just getting experience what we've had all year ... a very fun ball club one guy i work with is pulling for the cubs but can't stop praising the marlins .. he is caught up in the false nostalgia of the cubbies ... but i dont' think he'd cry if the marlins win people are starting to take note ... and if they make the WS many will be pulling for them

Marlins Fans Everywhere
as a grad of another PA school (drexel university in philly) I often caught crap for being a marlins fan of course my freshman year started with them winning the series ... but the years after that got kind of rough ... many bad days in the vet anyhow, i digress ... here's hoping the marlins take it again .. hell of an experience .. still early in the year, really don't know anyone and then getting flak for being a marlins fan ... next thing you know they have a series championship and all the yankee/mets/phillies fans are envious and everyone just kind of looks at you as you oddly walk around very happy for reasons they can't understand

arnold controversy (new)
Arnold is tapping into good resources ... he has brought on Jaime Escalante to help him with educational issues, especially as they relate to the hispanic community ... in fact he is dipping into the teachers, superintendants and people associated with washington groups for his educational team He has also receieved support from George Schultz and Warren Buffett. The guy is building up a good staff around him. For the record he is educated gaining a degree from the University of Wisconsin - Superior. He has had much success in the business world parlaying his bodybuilding career into a real estate business and has made many wise financial decisions. He has served on Councils for two presidents and also was the chairman for Inner-City Games, which is an inner city youth program. He also spearheaded prop 49 which provided funding for afterschool youth programs. Whether or not he does a good job is yet to be seen, but just because he is a guy with an accent who was a bodybuilder/actor doesn't necessarily make him incompetant.

al leiter doing the marlins game
i liked leiter in game 1 ... seemed very nervous at first, but settled in nicely ... even would contradict lyons ("well, actually that was a 2 seamer, but anyway..") didn't seem to be really biased or anything

Spooneybarger - Idiot
yeah .. i see where he did the 7th inning last night (curiousity sent me over to buffettnews.com) .. huge buffett fan and it's been known that he's a cubs fan (blech) .... although i don't agree with his politics i don't think he's a commie ... at least he keeps his political thoughts out of his music and usually doesn't shoot off his mouth too much on it ... will do fundraisers and speak about dem. friends ... but nothing too bad, not like those who think that their opinion means something because they are famous and decide to throw it at you constantly still a fan

Berardino: ditch Penny
ugh .. i had suppressed the alex fernandez memory ... that's probably when this train of thought first started to happen with me .. another good (sad?!) example

Berardino: ditch Penny
i've been roasted for saying this before and yet i'm going to say it again i think brad penny would be a lot better pitcher if he lost about 20 lbs the guy is very talented and very inconsistent .. at times he doesn't pitch right, which is a concern especially since redman has been on the roster all year showing that good location and knowing the game can carry you .. add that with penny's stuff and he could be dominant but back to the weight issue ... it's been a problem that i've noticed ... livan struggled his first year here when he was in the minors, he got homesick, had a problem making a transistion to the US, ate a lot and ballooned up ... in 97 he got it a little better under control, but after that he didn't go all the way and trim up and be consistently dominant .. he put on a little more and has been an up and down guy colon is another guy who has all world stuff, but you never know what you will get .. add padilla and wells (although wells is usually clutch) to that list as well the endurance just doesn't seem to be there ... if they go out and have a bad inning where they throw 25-30 pitches, it seems to wear them down to where they'll get touched the rest of the night it also plays toward their discipline and dedication no reason for it

Marlins vs Giants---Game 2---4:06 at Pac Bell

Game Times
:fyou networks/mlb you know, the giants are a west coast team .. also do you realize that there are marlin fans on pacific time (like me in arizona) starting both weekday games at 1 local time blows .. now i need to watch it on gamecast, during a busy work week while avoiding the bosses .... blech and to add frusteration i'll be out of town travelling on saturday so i'll miss that game as well .... if i don't get to see a single playoff game i'll be pissed .. bad enough i've only been able to watch 3 games this year ... when living in philly that would be the number i saw live per series ... never know when the playoffs will hit again i'd be upset if i were a giants fan as well ... lot of people will be blowing off things to go to the park this week ... traffic is going to be a nightmare (even worse than usual) as people are leaving the stadium and work at the same time just ridiculous scheduling ... makes me want to drink :drunks

Coldplay
i don't need mtv to tell me what to like and i hate how radio/mtv is just a modified version of the ever illegal payola anywho, i am a big fan of coldplay ... very mellow music that i enjoy i do like some popular bands and some bands that you may occasionally see on mtv i however for the most part don't like mtv .. they seem to push their political agenda on young kids as the cool thing ... not to mention the fact that cash's hurt video was one of the most chilling things i've ever seen, yet it hardly got any airplay my musical tastes are all over the place .. i like some laid back music, i'm a huge jimmy buffett fan and like independent guys of that style like jim morris .. i love the "classic" rock ... i'm a fan of the punk/hardcore/ska scene .. big face to face fan ... also a huge fan of the reverend horton heat and actually was listening to the supersuckers on teh way to work today not big on the modern rap scene, but i liked a lot of the older stuff, especially the laid back east coast style ... before it all became glamour and glitz my main problem is with manufactured bands that are marginally talented, have songs writen for them, have their dances choreographed for them, but passed off as the big thing ... i just have little respect for that and it doesn't suit my interests .. unfortunately this is what a lot of pop music is now i'll listen to anything from jazz to rock to rap ... as long as i like it i don't care ... if i don't like it then that is also my choice ... i'm not influenced by radio/mtv in the least as CIV said "gang opinion doesn't count for ****)

Pitchers stealing bases?
i really like andy larkin .. would watch him all the time when he was playing for the elmira pioneers also had the misfortune of watching booty a couple times .. blech then my seahawks drafting him .. they cut him before the season started and the browns picked him up ... the seahawks then played the browns to open the season .. booty has stuck with them though as the 3rd stringer (as previously mentioned)

think back 2 years
I was about halfway through a road trip .. myself and my roomate are huge buffett fans so we had the whole shark truck thing going and were going to make a whole slew of shows before classes started up again .... made a show on a tuesday and then on a thursday ... then drove up to toronto to hang for the weekend, left sunday morning, drove to cleveland and watched my seahawks beat the browns stayed in cleveland sunday and monday night and planned on driving to indianapolis for the show on tuesday tuesday morning comes i step out of the shower and my roomate mentions something going on at the WTC, a fire, another bombing or something ... doesn't know much except that there is a lot of smoke he jumps in the shower and i continue to watch TV while getting ready ... this was about the time the second plane hit we finish packing and join the herd leaving the hotel ... was a wild scene ... people reserving extra nights because the airport closed, streets clogged with people leaving work, everyone was kinda going about their business in a dazed manner we drove kinda aimlessly south for some reason before turning around and heading back to his parents house in NE pennsylvania ... stayed the night there .... had the biggest urge to get back to my apt in philly the next day so he swung down and dropped me off philly was eerie walking around ... no air traffic except helicopters flying low by center city in the city hall area ... no traffic, no noise ... eerie indeed

Supertroopers
love that movie ... saw it in theatres ... all the guys were laughing to death .. all the girls were glaring at them, saying it's the worst movie ever and wanting to leave ASAP it cracked me up though ... especially little things like the jumping on the bed scene

The VMA'S
***RANT ON*** i usually like the vmas ... i tend to hate mtv, it's preaching on what is cool and passing off their politics as the trendy thing (and only correct way of thought) to impressionable 13 year olds is sickening however, i think the vmas are usually pretty good ... some mix it up performances, some unintentional comedy, awkardness of completely different kinds of people working together .... it's entertaining last night, however, is 3 hours of my life i'll never get back .... people are making a big deal out of the kiss and opening first the whole cake and dress thing madonna did back in 84 was shocking .. it was for one, 1984 .... next she showed the crowd and audience quite a bit .... 3rd it was 1984 and this type of thing wasn't the norm that it is now to see christina and brittany with more covering gyrating less than they do in their videos was not exciting to see a forced kiss was not exciting shock for the sake of shock is lame ... when you push the envelope for the sake of just pushing it, your bound to get tired ... that opening was boring also madonna doing a whole song on hollywood ... yeah, nice and all, but the location was NYC ... even though most of the crowd resides on the west coast, i don't care .. the setting was new york and if you only perform 1 song it shouldn't be about hollywood also i can't believe that the 2 major pop princesses had the chutzpah to sing the line about radio playing songs to death and making stars ... THAT IS HOW YOU HAVE A CAREER!!!!!! chris rock is one of my favorite comedians .. his bring the pain set was one of the funniest things i've ever seen ... he had some good moments last night, but looked uncomfortable for most of it ... i also agree that he has slid in recent years most of the presenters were lame .. best part was snoop and sandler feeding off each other and actually looking like they were having a good time all told the performances were a bit bland .. no one really mixed it up ... i like coldplay, but their act paled to the one they put on at the grammys as for the modern state of rap ... i quit getting into it a long time ago ... i love groups like outkast, goodie mob (the CD with soul food on it is classic, although world party is kinda weak), KRS-One, tribe, de la, old wu-tang, old redman, black eyed peas, roots, pharcyde, early dre, snoop, some nas, etc now it just seems to be even more posturing and posing .. the puff dadiation of the industry ... people dancing with their shiny clothes, singing the same 5 lyrics about money, hos and clothes i like some nelly now, but that gets repetative .. i think eminem is talented as can be, but wastes it on some worthless songs (he teases you with some real solid ones) ... 50 is bunk, ja rule is worse .... jay z has completely slid off the map .. his best stuff was out in like 95 thankfully i can still find some rock bands i like .. a couple incorporate ryhming .. i love 311 and linkin park is good as well big fan of the reverend horton heat, supersuckers, face to face, etc good to see rock music maybe making a comeback of sorts oh well ***rant off*
