I was in my statistics class as the bell was about to ring when i first heard about it. the announcements were on doing the basic high school announcements when they mentioned something about a hijacked plane right before they ended. i didnt know what they were talking about until i got to my English class and saw what was on the tv, then i knew what they were saying. it was around 9:45. i spent the entire hour watching it on tv in complete and utter shock and they kept showing the replay of the 2nd plane hitting like it was sports event. i couldnt believe it. then the 1st tower fell, than the 2nd and they kept showing the images of the pentagon on the tv. i spent the rest of the day telling students that their parents were their to pick them up (i was an office aide for a period). but that one hour i spent in English class is the hour that sticks in my mind. the interviews with the running New Yorkers, the collapsing towers, the 2nd plane hitting the tower constantly. that was the 3rd week of my senior year, a year when i was planning what college i was going to go to, what girl i would eventually ask to the prom and the other basic Senior events. but that hour changed everything. for that hour, i didnt want to even see September 12th because i didnt know what other deadly horror would be waiting for us. For that one hour, i actually doubted next week would come.

i was running late for class.

 

 

it was my environmental geology class.

 

 

so as i am hurrying out of the house, my dad said something about a plane hitting the WTC. I was like WTF, but didnt think much of it...this I believe was before the second plane hit the towers if i recall....in fact i think it was like 5 minutes before.

 

 

so i get to campus and i am going to the University Center, heading to my 'office' the Service Learning Center and I see a gaggle of people huddled by a tv....strange cause we dont have TV's in the UC. I am listening to it and I am shocked.....I goto the office and its chaos. So I go back out to the tv and one of my friends is out there....

 

we start trying to figure out what this is all about...its an act of war and start going through the rules of warfare....

 

as more is learned, we start speculating on what might happen next....

 

then we hear about the plane in DC...later the one in Pennsylvania....

 

we start speculating more....

 

 

it was a day never to forget....one that you become thankful for what you have and all...

 

 

oh yeah...class was cancelled that day....we spent it in church and watching tv largely...

 

 

eerie day...a day never to be forgotten......

so true, thats a day that you think back on and say to yourself "f***, did that really happen?". eerie is a good word to describe it Das. I'll never forget that day, not even that week.

but this was NY. remember Chicago is considered the 2nd city. Ny is viewed as our economic center, especially the towers. the Pentagon is pretty much the center of the American military. so it doesnt surprise me they hit those spots.

Around the time planes started flying again I went to a walmart that is in a location where planes fly over on their way to landing at MIA. I still remember everyone in the parking lot looking up at every plane that would pass by.

I first heard about it from this dork kid during Home Room. The way he said it, he was like "yah a plane hit the WTC"...I started laughing (its sad thinking that i actually laughed) because I was thinking "What a dumb*ss...who cant see the WTC when flying!"

 

Then during HR and my 3rd period class, I learned more and more about it. Spent the rest of the day watching the news, and talking about it in class pretty much.

i was sleeping, and my friend in another room came running down the halls yelling "the WTC has been hit"...

 

everyone was like GO BACK TO SLEEP...

 

then we turned on the tv....

I was about halfway through a road trip .. myself and my roomate are huge buffett fans so we had the whole shark truck thing going and were going to make a whole slew of shows before classes started up again .... made a show on a tuesday and then on a thursday ... then drove up to toronto to hang for the weekend, left sunday morning, drove to cleveland and watched my seahawks beat the browns

 

stayed in cleveland sunday and monday night and planned on driving to indianapolis for the show on tuesday

 

tuesday morning comes i step out of the shower and my roomate mentions something going on at the WTC, a fire, another bombing or something ... doesn't know much except that there is a lot of smoke

 

he jumps in the shower and i continue to watch TV while getting ready ... this was about the time the second plane hit

 

we finish packing and join the herd leaving the hotel ... was a wild scene ... people reserving extra nights because the airport closed, streets clogged with people leaving work, everyone was kinda going about their business in a dazed manner

 

we drove kinda aimlessly south for some reason before turning around and heading back to his parents house in NE pennsylvania ... stayed the night there .... had the biggest urge to get back to my apt in philly the next day so he swung down and dropped me off

 

philly was eerie walking around ... no air traffic except helicopters flying low by center city in the city hall area ... no traffic, no noise ... eerie indeed

I was in my art class during 6th grade.At first,I had NO idea what was happening since they just gave vague details on the PA.But then my art teacher turned on the Tand I saw what happened.Parents were picking up their kids early because of it.My parents also came and picked me up.The rest of the day I often saw what was happening on tv.To tell you the truth,at that moment I wasn't really scared or worried because I didn't understand :/

I was in 10th grade. I had gotten to my biology class and we were about 5 minutes into it when Mr. Nu?ez (one of the assistant principals in Belen) came over the loudspeaker and said (and I can remember what he said very clearly) that to be calm, that apparently a plane had hit the World Trade Center, that the parents were worried but that we were safe and that they were continuing to monitor the situation. We spent pretty much the rest of the time of the different periods looking at information and just trying to make some sense of it all (one teacher actually did teach, but w/e). I remember there being constant rumors about some planes still in the air, about how different buildings had been hit besides the ones that actually did end up getting hit, etc. It was a confusing day, that was for sure.
