I watched the Marlins game yesterday on MSG and they talked about all the players for the Marlins having the "green light" when they get on the bases. So one of the announcers said he asked Jack McKeon "what about pitchers?" McKeon said he's given the steal sign to pitchers 3 TIMES this year, but they all chickened out and were afraid to go. I don't believe any pitcher has stolen a base as a Fish...

I know Looper could steal 2nd... lol

Looper is really fast.

He could be a 10-15 steal guy.

I remember Greg Maddux once stole a base!

I bet Jesus Sanchez could've stolen a base or two while he was here.

Yeah, he was pinch ran, more than Mordicae!

jesus sanchez was kevin millar's personal runner when millar would get on base!! u guys remember that?

Those were the days.

It is kinda of sad because all "true" Marlins' fans remember Sanchez, but where is he now?

Jesus Sanchez is now pitching for the Colorado Rockies.

Tejera could steal a base

anyone know where my boy Brian Meadows is now?

he was with us through the "hard times"

98-99 i believe

anyone? know where my boy Brian Meadows is now?

Meadows?

He's now pitching for the Pittsburgh Pirates as a middle reliever I believe. He did well as a rookie in that very sad, dismal year of 98' as a starter...

My brother and I consider anyone like Meadows, and Jesus Sanchez, who were with us during the "hard times" true Marlins.

It is funny that we don't consider Jeff Conine a True Marlin!

He wasn't with us when the times were really tough.

Speaking of Jesus Sanches he's pitching as we speak for Colorado

Wow! So close . . . but so far.

I really miss all those guys we used to have that God knows where they are now . . .

Tony Saunders

Chuck Smith

Kevin Orie

I last saw Kurt Ojala after his stint with the Marlins as an opposing pitcher in 2000 with the Trenton Thunder. You can add Brian Edmondson to that list too; I saw him last year as an Erie Seawolf against the Sea Dogs. My brother and I were talking to him during the game (our seats were right near the bullpen), and he said "Admin Beinfest is an idiot." :D

Saunders broke his arm twice literally pitching for the D-Rays (it was ugly), he retired. Saunders went in the expansion draft to TB before the '98 season

i would say Conine is a true Marlin. he was at the beginning and was part of an improving team until they reached the top.

I liked Meadows, i think he pitched pretty well for us in '98 considering. did we get Meadows in a trade or was he in our farm system?

anybody remember Andy Larkin? i remember once against LA he had a 5-0 lead, and in a matter of minutes that lead was gone.

Todd Dunwoody?

Rafael Medina?

Justin Speirs? who i think pitches for the Rockies now

those were some days

How did Conine not go through the tough days? He only played on one winning Marlins team, not counting this season. Niner played for losing Marlins clubs from the inception to 1996.

Andy Larkin was another who played with the Sea Dogs after being on the Marlins. He had some sort of injury he was supposively "rehabbing", and appeared in only 11 games in 1999 between Brevard County and Portland, going a combined 1-2. He last pitched in 2001 with the Colorado Springs Sky Sox.

Todd Dunwoody seems to pop up at least once a year, somehow, someway. I could swear he was up in the majors at some point this year (goes to check)

Okay, nope, this is the first year he hasn't been up since '96:

97-99 with us

00 Royals

01 Cubs

02 Indians

He was with the Cards in spring training, but I don't know if he stayed in their orginization and I'm too lazy to check.

While we're bringing up old Marlins, am I the only one who thought Ryan Jackson was going to be "awesome"?

i remember Jackson. he was 1st baseman/Ofielder right. i never thought he was going to be anything special.

here's one: Josh Booty. did he ever get drafted into the NFL? i think he did but didnt make the team.

i keep having this pitcher on my mind but i cant think of his name. he was pretty good, got into a nice groove for us until he got an arm injury. his name was Ludwick or something like that. what was his name :banghead

God that team was awful

I thought Ryan Jackson was going to be good as well, and his minor league numbers are usually pretty good, but for some reason or another he doesn't seem to stay in the majors. He had 20+ home runs in AA in '97 and was left-handed.

The "Ludwick" you're thinking of is right - Eric Ludwick.

Don't get me started on Josh Booty... :D

yo,

Josh Booty is the 3rd QB for the Cleveland Browns and BTW guess what player was the next SS drafted after we too Booty in the first round?

if you Guessed NOMAR you would be correct.
