eminem can rhyme well......then again, you can go down to your local poetry meeting at the Starbucks or wherever and find good rhymes.

 

When I listen to rap, it's gotta have a good beat, and it can't be overplayed. Can I get into Lil Jon? Yes. Does it have great rhymes or messages? No. But, there is a time and place to listen to that. When I feel like "getting crunk" lol. That's why I like listening to stuff like Outkast, Dungeon Family, T.I., etc. Stuff that you can listen to, and it will make you think. If I have to hear one more song about how Eminem had a crappy childhood, and hates his mom, and f*ck the free world B.S., I'm gonna puke. Be original.

 

That new Bubba Sparxxx song is original. No cursing (not that it matters, its just interesting that he doesnt on that song), no rap, slang cliches.

 

You gotta be special for me to like you. Jay Z? Meh. Ja Rule? Meh. A rap group that can bring in George Clinton? Sweet. (Outkast on the Aquemini cd). A rap group that can incorporate the harmonica (played by Andre 3000's pastor). A rapper who can incorporate trumpets? (Spottieoddiedopalicious).

 

Outkast, Gipp, Cee-Lo, etc....they know about their roots...and when I mean roots, I don't mean N.W.A. I mean, Funk, Blues, Jazz, etc. BB King, George Clinton, Parliament Funkadellic, stuff like that. If you can bring that into rap, I have respect. If all your raps are about the same stuff, and use the same lines (i.e. Fabolous and Nelly), then I don't wanna hear it.

I support all that.

 

Outkast has some real talent. have you heard B.O.B. mix with rage of the machine? outkast can go on any beat. much better than what my dog turds out.

 

However, some NWA is pretty good. Not all of it. Just a few songs. straight outta compton, fook the police, those are real.

 

Nelly, yea he sucks now. That first cd he made was the only good one. and only like 3 songs on that CD were good. nelly used to be a 2nd base prospect for st.louis too lol. So hes on my good side.

 

Eminem can rhyme, but so can I. you should see me, really, give me like 2 days and I can make a poem about my mom taking highblood pressure pills too

. He has a couple songs that I have to say are good. that 8 mile road song and whatever you say I am, I gotta at least say were above mediocre. The rest, I'd rather listen a racoon getting runned over for the 4th time in reverse.

 

If I listen to that stuff, which isnt much of it, although I've heard most of it, its either 2pac/outlawz, some trick daddy, SOME dmx ( some x sh*t is good) , NWA, easy E (some of it), Outcast, shyne, only a couple b.i.g.

 

with rap, they all talk alot of sh*t. I'll only listen to the ones that I can respect for the most part.. I've met trick daddy and Dmx, those are some real people,. Not fake BS, rap about clothes, hos , 24's rappers like all that other trash.

 

its good to get cronked too though. but rap is going down overall. Pretty soon at this rate, it wont exist anymore in like 10 years.

Arg,50 Cent is a horrible music artist, I don't see what all the hype is about. I'm really getting sick of wealty suburban children running around around saying "G-UNIT!"

or "Go shorty it's your birthday". He's nowhere near being a "god" artist in my opinion.

Well, cut him some slack. The 96 performance in DC was classic. He was in the flow the whole night, it was awesome. I have that one on CD to listen to in the car on long trips :thumbup

 

Of course, after the 96 DC performance one can't help but go down hill since there is no where to go but down when you've reached the top of tops. But there are some comedians that have passed him IMO. Christopher Titus is the man and no one knows about him. Bernie Mac is hilarious, I think funnier than Rock at this point. And for those who saw Last Comic Standing, "The Don" was the man. I think his was Richard Vos? I'm not sure but he is hilarious as well.

I'll take Outkast's ATLiens over it aaanny day. I also have 50 cent's cd (I burned it thank goodness). I'd take Nappy Roots' Watermelon, Chicken and Gritz over it. Heck, I'll take Dirty's cd. T.I.'s first cd I'm Serious. I'll take Ole E's cd.

 

These people don't know rap. They're from South Florida (which, without turning this into a totally new topic, is the South...in at least the rapping sense), yet I guarantee they don't know any Dirty (Maybe Hit Da Floe), they don't know any Ole E, they only know Sick of Being Lonely by Field Mob. They only know Lil Jon's hits. They don't know Youngbloodz except for maybe 85 ft. Big Boi, and the new song D*mn ft. Lil Jon. They don't know Dungeon Family. They don't know Killer Mike except for what's on the Madden soundtrack, and maybe A.D.I.D.A.S. (oh and The Whole World). They do know Ludacris. woopee. They do know Trick Daddy (his hits that is). They don't know Goodie Mob. They don't know Cee-lo. They don't know Paul Wall and Chamillionaire.

 

So, what am I getting at? I'm getting at this: these people don't necessarily like rap. They like popular rap. They like rap they see on MTV. What's on TRL? 50 cent and lil kim's The Magic Stick? Oh I love that song! What? Dirty isn't on trl? Oh, I've never heard of them. No, I dont wanna listen to them, because none of my friends will know them. And I only look cool if my friends know the music too.

well it's about to start.

One of the seldom times i turned on MTV (or maybe it was VH1), I saw that video Johnny Cash made covering a Nine Inch Nails song. That is a solid video. I heard it was up for like 8 VMA's. I think thats cool that young kids are recognizing the man in black, even if it is just cuz its a weird video with Reznor lyrics. Hope it wins something though, its really good.
