How can I get through to you, this deal will help ensure the team has money coming in to help pay for the ballpark. Why do you think stadium negotiations keep going so long? FSN and WQAM gotta step up and provide some $$$ backing.

FSN and KMOX did for the Cards and that was when the Cards were able to start building their new ballpark.

FSN is working on an extension to 2020 of the current deal with a possible addition of 55 games from PAX so the Marlins can present that contract as proof of income and WQAM's deal is also important to show income.

It's like when you go to buy a house, you have to prove income to the mortgage company.

so you think when the marlins get their radio contract the stadium deal will be announced. to be honest i don't really understand why they would get more money from FSN? please explain. I htought we where talking radio? (no sarcasm) i want to understand what you mean...

afer13,

The radio and free TV deals are up for extension.

WQAM wants to get the Marlins locked up and that is what we were discussing. According to WQAM officials it should be done within 2 weeks.

FSN wants to get the 55 games that were previously shown on PAX onto FSN Florida. They also want to extend their contract from expiration in 2011 to 2020.

Here is the statement from the Cards Front Office:

In May Cardinals President Mark Lamping told the Business Journal that the signing of a new long-term deal with its broadcast partners was critical to the Cardinals receiving financing for a $360 million ballpark the team hopes to build by the 2006 season.

http://www.bizjournals.com/stlouis/stories...01/daily31.html

The Marlins need similar long-term deals to present to the County, City, Private Banks, and Investors in order to prove they can pay for the ballpark. The lease payments at PPS help, but they are not proof enough of good payment and income.

that part i do understand. what im confused about how is that tied into the stadium deal. how much do the marlins get for their part in the radio deal? from what i understand the big thing holding up the stadium right now is the letter of credit from the marlins end...? and who will be covering construction overruns. Also i heard a good idea presented on 790 that maybe the MLB should pick up the price for the cost overruns, much like the nfl helps when they are building stadiums...

Marlins need sources of guaranteed income in order to get a letter of credit. This is a source of guaranteed income.

Another option is the one DC took where the team could purchase cost overrun insurance.

what about the idea of the MLB taking on the cost overruns....that would def. get the deal done with the stadium. It would be in baseballs interst i believe because it would enable Loria to start paying them back the 45mil he owes...

That is what is being negotiated. MLB and DC are splitting the cost of overrun insurance for the new Nats Ballpark.

I know to many of you,

These past few months of my posts giving you news on this subject has seemed out of place, but it has alot to do with the future of this team.

The first step in stability is being to have your team on TV and Radio almost every night.

The Expos started failing big time once they lost this. That is why I have kept such close watch on this. This issue has alot to do with 2008 as it does with 2005.

There is a method to the madness.

I don't have to prove anything to any of you, if you don't want to believe what I post, then don't.

I was given the information from a source who e-mailed it to me yesterday.

I guess you will just have to wait until the Dolphins announce it.

no, i definitely believe it, i was just giving fish tank frenzy the source since he asked.

but uh yea, this ought to be good for the marlins

Shaqman, it wasn't my source. It was the second place I saw it though.

644443[/snapback]

funny you'd say that.

the guy posts it on that board at 4:20pm yesterday.

you read it and respond to his post by asking a question at 5:43pm.

you then make this thread here at 7:25pm noting you've heard this news from your one "source."

then you post here at 7:44pm to let us know you've just received confirmation from another source.

but hey, we're all insiders in one way or another, aren't we?

:cheers

Shaqman,

If you don't believe me ok. But he didn't say anything about 790 having signs on PPS already and 'QAM having all their signs taken down.

I am not competing with anyone, just trying to get everyone informed on what is happening. Seeing by the reaction to this thread, it seems enough care.

Edit: If I see this, I follow it. No info with this attached has been given out.

So, one of your "sources" basically the radio version of "moviepoopshoot.com" or one of the many Star Wars message boards where speculation runs rampant because somebody ran across a receipt from George Lucas's trash can?

My issue with you is that you is that you portend to be this wealth of information from "sources," but you can't really post here until you get out of 5th period English and you're as full of sh!t as the rest of us here.

I have my "source" as well, but I don't get much out of him because of the whole attorney-client privlege thing (and we're both attorneys). The most I got out of him was that HE is the Marlins attorney for land use matters and that HE landed them as a client. However, I can't give you much of anything else because usually "TRUE" sources don't sing like canaries unless they have something to leak for, usually, improper or vindictful reasons!

You can take it however you want, but once you get out in the "Real World" (and by that I don't mean MTV's concoction that has sucked since Season 3: San Francisco!) you'll see what I mean.
