December 29, 200421 yr According to my source, Wayne the Craterface signed the deal last night. It has yet-to-be-announced. The Marlins and WQAM look to be getting closer in 2005. Stay tuned!
December 29, 200421 yr Author Wow. Cape, are you on to something? 643979 What do you mean?
December 29, 200421 yr Author Mandich is under Dolphins contract for 2 years, expect him to leave WQAM if 790 is in fact the Dolphins flagship in 2005.
December 29, 200421 yr Wow. Cape, are you on to something? 643979 What do you mean? 643980 This is huge. That would be a pretty big find. :thumbup
December 29, 200421 yr Who's your source? 643987 Can't reveal it. Otherwise the source gets in trouble.
December 29, 200421 yr Author Who's your source? 643987 My source, leave it at that. I stress....this is unconfirmed officially.
December 29, 200421 yr Author This would be a huge move for the Marlins, Hurricanes and Panthers. The station is theirs. No more games on another station because of the Dolphins, no more Dolphins preseason games getting preference over Regular Season Marlins games, hopefully more Marlins talk, maybe a show for Boog, and maybe more Marlins related shows.
December 29, 200421 yr Author Ok, I have a second source confirming. Hope the official word comes out soon!
December 29, 200421 yr Author In related news, ESPN has chosen not to renew that evil Rob Dibble. He will no longer be on ESPN Radio nor on BBTN.
December 29, 200421 yr Author People who have gone to PPS lately have noted a 790 ESPN Radio banner has replaced the 560 WQAM banner. They also notice all other signage dealing with WQAM has been removed as well.
December 29, 200421 yr Cape this sucks...really, 790 was the only place Marlins fans could go to listen to objective Marlins talk, Now Marlins fans have to deal with Fat Hank cracking the Marlins at every turn. Probable blaming them for the Dolphins leaving his station. I was holding out hope 790 would come through...well here's hoping for the best.

I like 790 as an escape from Hank and stuff but now if that's going to be the Dolphin's flagship station . . .

If the ban is not accepted, then Fat Hank would have to give the Marlins appearances on his show. In other words, Fat Hank is a fish that has been fried.
December 29, 200421 yr Author BTW, Hank won't be blaming the Marlins. I won't name any names, but there are 2 people who have put the Dolphins off WQAM. If you are a Marlins fan, you should like this. You get the best possible scenario for your team: a clean slate to mold into your own. WQAM used to be Marlins and Panthers only from 1993 until the Dolphins invasion in 1996. It was pretty good back then, it can return with talents like Goldie, Boog, and others who will grow and fill those spots.
December 29, 200421 yr Author A look at WQAM before: 1996 Weekdays 6am-10am "The First Team" with Joe Rose 10am-12noon "The Fabulous Sports Babe" 12noon-3pm "The Rush Limbaugh Show" - Not Available 3pm-7pm "The Hank 'The Hammer' Goldberg Show" 7pm-11pm "Rocco & Boog" with Rocco Pendola & Jon Sciambi 11pm-2am "Ferrell on the Bench" 2am-3am "The Pete Rose Show" 3am-6am Percy Wingfield Friday Only 11am-12noon "The Mark Lawrence Show" Syndicated 12noon-1pm "The Lenny Stevens Show" Syndicated archive.org

December 29, 200421 yr Author But is it really a clean slate when 560's "franchise player" is the team's biggest critic? 644123 yes, because you will have all the timeslots except Fat Hank's and Neil Rogers' to fill. WQAM and the teams it has rights to could develop some very good shows that include the teams like they used to before 1998-1999.
December 29, 200421 yr Author There is a possible chance 790 could grab the Marlins, but it would require much risk for the team and swallowing of its pride. WQAM likely offers more money, established dial spots on the network stations, and a chance to extend their partnership further. Remember the Marlins have always been on WQAM as have the Panthers. The Dolphins, Heat, Hurricanes, Gators, and Seminoles all come and go. WQAM knows its bread and butter is the Marlins.
December 29, 200421 yr Author Think of it like when the Bears left WGN Radio leaving it for the Cubs and Northwestern University. Or when the Mariners left KIRO to the Seahawks for KOMO. Since the moves, both teams have seen much better ratings, increased coverage, and better popularity amongst the fans.
