Why dont we sign Odalis Perez?

Featured Replies

I am bringing this up more out of frustration than anything. Odalis Perez would perform very well for the Marlins I think.

128K/44BB.

1.14 Whip

3.25 ERA

27 years old

Lefty

Price tag = around $7M per year.

We offered Pavs money, why wouldnt we turn around and offer this guy the same deal? My only concern is that his K/9IP is low (5.87) but for his career he is averaging 6.52. (By comparison, Pavano was 5.63 last year and 5.92 for his career.)

I think it would be a great investment.

Rotoworld reported the Marlins are a player for him, but I just find it difficult to believe they have another 7+ million laying around that they're waiting to spend. I would think it's more likely they're just going after a lefty bat to platoon, but I don't see much out there anymore...

I'd be pleasantly surprised if they were able to land Perez. The Nationals rumored offer was 3 years 18 million.

I'd rather not get into a long term deal, but if he proves healthy Perez would be great insurance if Burnett bolts.

I think it would be a great pickup. Of course the focus should be on the offense, but there really isn't much left so we might as well make our pitching strong to try to offset the lack of offense.

but I doubt Loria would be willing to spend the money.
