January 19, 200521 yr Here's the question for the day. Is this the first time in NFL history that both conference championships have been played in the same state?
January 19, 200521 yr I'm surprised that ESPN hasn't mention that yet. I am guessing it happened before.
January 19, 200521 yr Im just guessing, but what about the year that San Francisco played San Diego in the Super Bowl in Miami like 10 years ago. Dont know where the conference championship games were, though.
January 19, 200521 yr AFC title game was in pitt where san diego won while san fran beat dallas in san francisco. the fact i automatically remember that says so much about my life.
January 19, 200521 yr ok after researching my 1994 street and smith guide to pro football (my only one... and yes im that bored. no judgments please) it is possible that this happened in 1974. that year, oakland finished ahead of pittsburgh in the standings and played against them in the afc title game. in the nfc, the rams (LA) finished tied with minnesota record wise and played them in the NFC title game. it doesnt say who won the tie breaker or who hosted the game though. also back in the day there were some crazy rules regarding homefield (1972 dolphins played all there playoff games on the road) but i dont know if the rules got changed by 1974. i stopped looking in the pre superbowl era (figured the NFL and AFL title games could count as conference title games). i had nothing else to do and sports trivia interests me dammit. :confused
January 19, 200521 yr Pittsburgh won at Oakland 24-13 however, the vikings were at home and beat the rams 14-10
January 19, 200521 yr What about 1991 when the Bills played the Giants in the super bowl. 659804 Nevermind I think that the Giants played the NFC game in San Fran
January 19, 200521 yr 1990 was really close as the bills (ny) hosted the LA raiders (ca) and the giants (ny) played at the 49ers (ca) the rams & raiders were close many times ... amazing how many times they met the vikings/steelers in the conference championship ... never aligned so that both games were in CA though it hasn't happened in the superbowl era .. not even in the early superbowl era w/league championships and conference championships if anyone wants to check the years prior, be my guest http://www.jt-sw.com/football/pro/results.nsf
January 19, 200521 yr It would be funny if the Jets and Giants made it to the Conference Championship and both had home games. They would be sharing the stadium.

January 23, 200521 yr It would be funny if the Jets and Giants made it to the Conference Championship and both had home games. They would be sharing the stadium. 659815 That would be cool. Kind of like a double header, except with different teams.
