January 24, 200521 yr They have better starting pitching, although with the results of last year's rotation that isn't such a huge improvement in the regular season, but now their bullpen looks extremely weak. What's Mazzone planning to do? Minor leaguers? :confused
January 24, 200521 yr Kolb is good, but I still don't understand how he's such a dominant closer. With Mondesi and Jordan back in Atlanta, this has to be their weak-spot, but as long as Mazzone is there, I never ever will doubt their pitching...
January 24, 200521 yr but as long as Mazzone is there, I never ever will doubt their pitching... 664943 Bingo
January 24, 200521 yr They have a bunch of guys with sub 4 era potential, a lot of them threw that last year. Kolb had a sub 3 era last year and all those saves. The Marlins did rough him up though. But he will probably get his saves again. Alfo stunk up Chi Town before he went to the ATL, so whatever they do there it works.
January 24, 200521 yr What they do is have Mazzone work with pitchers. 665075 Exactly...Hudson should be the favorite for a cy young now.
January 25, 200521 yr They lost their two best bullpen arms so it won't be as good as it was this year, but it's still a pretty decent pen. It won't be the reason they don't do well.
January 25, 200521 yr They'll find some journeymen and kids and put together a solid 'pen. They always do. I still can't believe what they did in 2002 with Darren freakin' Holmes and Chris Hammond who were on the scrap heap for years previously. :banghead
