A funny wrinkle in the contract

If Delgado finishes 2nd in MVP voting to Barry Bonds, he gets $50k

if its anyone else, he gets nothing

Ahhh, the Steroid clause.

Yes that was odd....but probably a request from Delgado since he probably believes he doesn't have much of a chance at NL MVP as long as Barry is around.

The writers may be more cautious of voting for Barry now that it's been proven he's been juicing.

please erase that.

Who knows how long Barry will be around for that matter...

Honestly, I could care a less if he retires next year.

Relax it with the jinxing, d00d.

This is a very interesting contract. The option for the fifth season can be vested, and that becomes an option by a unique point system. Points will be rewarded on a scale of 1 to 10 regarding the regular season MVP, and a similar system will be setup for the LCS and WS MVP. This all comes down to Delgado and his performance on the field. It gives him an added incentive to work hard on and off the field.

So could I (but I do have his rookie card...) but the Marlins have a clause which will be moot. Delgado didnt get teh better end of that deal and I wonder if he even looks at it as a realistic possibility. Because, Barry is certainly not going to play another 5 years.

I am the anti-Jinx. I made all those threads a few days ago welcoming Delgado to the fish when the O's and Mets were still in it and look what happened :mischief .

When I jinx something, it actually happens :plain.

Kevin Millwood also gets a huge bonus if he wins the "Silver Slugger" award. As a pitcher. In the American League.

Some of these clauses are pretty hilarious. I wonder what it's like to negotiate them.
