New York wanted first baseman Jason Stokes or right-hander Denny Bautista, whom the Phish wouldn't surrender. So now the Mets will shop Benitez other places. There was a three-way deal in place that would have sent Benitez to the Giants, Felix Rodriguez to the Yankees and two prospects to the Mets that was tabled because of the Giants' need for a starter (Jason Johnson?). But it could be resurrected, or the Yankees may take Benitez themselves. Ryan Snare, Adrian Gonzalez and Jason Stokes or Denny Bautista is way to much...
