Posted February 2, 200519 yr This is it, for all the marbles. The winner of this poll, lasting until Friday Night, will be crowned Best Song of All Time by the voters of MarlinsBaseball.com . In The Heavenly Corner, we have: "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin In the precursor to the great battle of the bands, we have The Beatles and Led Zeppelin duking it out for Best Song. Found on Led Zeppelin IV, "Stairway to Heaven" hasn't always been the prophetic song it is labeled as. When first introduced at a live concert as a song missing eventual lyrics and some music work, the crowd grew restless and wanted more of the stuff they recognized. Robert Plant, who wrote the song, didn't even think that highly of it. But Jimmy Page knew better, urged Plant to finish it and with strokes of genius from each member (Plant's lyrics, Page's solo, John Paul Jones' addition of woodwind instruments, and Jason Bonham laying off drums until the middle of the song for effect) have made this into the phenomenom that it has become. In The Love Corner, appears: "Hey Jude" by The Beatles Originally starting out as a song made by Paul McCartney so John Lennon's son could deal with his father's divorce, it became alot more than that. Though just two simple words start the song, the intro instantly sends a smile to the listener's face. As familiar to the world as the band who played it, 'Hey Jude' is among the most remembered of the Beatles #1 hits, still being played daily in radio stations across the country. From a song about the end of a love, it evolved into a song about love and the game of it, inspiring down on their luck guys to give it another go with the girl they think is way out of their league. And of course, no one can yell in key quite like Paul McCartney can.

February 2, 200519 yr There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold And she's buying a stairway to heaven. When she gets there she knows, if the stores are all closed With a word she can get what she came for. Ooh, ooh, and she's buying a stairway to heaven. There's a sign on the wall but she wants to be sure 'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings. In a tree by the brook, there's a songbird who sings, Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven. Ooh, it makes me wonder, Ooh, it makes me wonder. There's a feeling I get when I look to the west, And my spirit is crying for leaving. In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees, And the voices of those who standing looking. Ooh, it makes me wonder, Ooh, it really makes me wonder. And it's whispered that soon if we all call the tune Then the piper will lead us to reason. And a new day will dawn for those who stand long And the forests will echo with laughter. If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, don't be alarmed now, It's just a spring clean for the May queen. Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run There's still time to change the road you're on. And it makes me wonder. Your head is humming and it won't go, in case you don't know, The piper's calling you to join him, Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow, and did you know Your stairway lies on the whispering wind. And as we wind on down the road Our shadows taller than our soul. There walks a lady we all know Who shines white light and wants to show How everything still turns to gold. And if you listen very hard The tune will come to you at last. When all are one and one is all To be a rock and not to roll. And she's buying a stairway to heaven.
February 2, 200519 yr Stairway to Heaven, a song that Cobain thought was so cool he was intent on lying that it was the first song he ever played on guitar. Plus meeting Plant in the airport was just awesome, such a nice guy although without many good things to say about Aerosmith
February 2, 200519 yr Hey Jude Hey Jude don?t make it bad, Take a sad song and make it better, Remeber, to let her into your heart, Then you can start to make it better. Hey Jude don?t be afraid, You were made to go out and get her, The minute you let her under your skin, Then you begin to make it better. And anytime you feel the pain, Hey Jude refrain, Don?t carry the world upon your shoulders. For well you know that it?s a fool, Who plays it cool, By making his world a little colder. So let it out and let it in Hey Jude begin, You?re waiting for someone to perform with. And on?t you know that it?s just you. Hey Jude, you?ll do, The movement you need is on your shoulder.
