They've almost beaten Duke and Wake Forest. They'll have a 14 or 15 seed probably... I think they can at least make it to the Sweet Sixteen--assuming they don't completely self-destruct.

My opposition to the three-point shot has nothing to do with Duke or its three-guard shoot behind the big men setting an illegal screens strategy, but more the outcome of this game. And the ones against West Virginia and Gonzaga last year. And many before that.

You gotta remember all the auto bids. 14 and 15s are almost always from the really weak conferences.
February 17, 200521 yr At large teams pretty much never go below 12. I think the Canes have to win 3 more games to make the tourney, either now or in the ACC tournament, assuming they finish top 5 in the conference and don't play one of those Thursday games. If they don't get top 5, they'll need 4 wins. Maryland's loss helps a little bit, in that Miami is now #4, I think, on account of having beat Maryland.

February 18, 200521 yr A school from a major conference will never get a 14 or 15 seed. That just doesn't happen. Remember, all the winners of the tiny conferences get an automatic bid so there isn't thaaat much room. I could see Miami getting like a 10 or 11 seed.

February 19, 200521 yr as a terps fan. this is first yearb i have eva gone through this. its un understandable, how we beat the good teams and lose to the bad teams.. we freakin swept due and everytime w e beat duke we send them on a tail spin i need duke to be good as they are. it feels like there are only two games we get ready for everey year duke and UNC........ and UNC blew us out but that was at the dean smith center. next game is in college park. wheree we kill our oppnents.... its like we have a dr.keckel mr hyde s*** going on this yera. and im not gonna lie and say gilchrist isnt a distraction talks about him goin in the draft and being a lottery pick anre f***ing us up to....... It does not make sense. We manage to beat the good teams but then we lose to the bad teams. We swept Duke and everytime we beat Duke they begin a tailspin. I wish Duke played as well as they can. It is almost as if there are only two games that Maryland prepares well for -- Duke and North Carolina. Unfortunately, UNC blew Maryland out but it was at the Dean Smith Center. Next meeting will be in college park where Maryland holds a decisive advantage. It's as if we have a Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde type complex this era. I won't dismiss the fact Gilchrist is a distraction. The talk about him going into the draft and being a possible lottery pick are getting in the way of us playing our top game. Mike Jones just might be the solution. He was ranked #2 in the SF position two years ago only behind Lebron James but he doesn't get any playing time because he can not play defense. He does have a good offensive side though
