So how many of you would rather have Pudge/Lee...

Featured Replies

A lot of you guys voted a while ago in the "Would you rather have Pudge/Lee or Delgado/LoDuca" poll that you would take Pudge/Lee. Well, after seeing how Pudge 'mysteriously' showed up to spring training 25 pounds lighter, would you STILL take Pudge/Lee over Delgado/LoDuca?

Discuss.

you gotta give Pudge the benefit of the doubt here and not say he juiced...

till his numbers drop atleast

I'll take juiced Pudge and Derrek Lee over Carlos Delgado and second half slump Lo Puka.

I dont think the 25 pounds had anything to do with steroids. If Pudge did take them as Canseco claims, then it would make sense that he took them right before 1999 when he went from being a 20 homer, 80 RBI guy to a 35 homer 120 RBI go. Notice after that season is when he started having injury problems too? Maybe Pudge tried it but I bet by the end of his Rangers years and when he got with us, he quit and notice his numbers got normal again. To me all this says last year wasnt a steroid induced year for Pudge.

Getting LoDuca over Pudge makes sense because he makes much less. Berardino's whole beef is why we didnt resign Lee but did sign Delgado and that was because of the stadium situation. I think the whole debate by Berardino was plain stupid. The Marlins were in a different position last year as compared to this year. Had the stadium deal been as imminent last year, I think they may have resigned Lee and Pudge.

Its kind of like "Why didnt the Phillies throw money at Rolen(I know he said he didnt want an extension but enough money would have changed his mind) but they did sign Thome. Why take Thome over Rolen? Different position.

lo duca, as of now, isnt good enough to be compared to delgado, lee, pudge. these guys are just awsome. Lo duca has had his long slumps and he hasnt produced much.im going with the 03 Pudge and Lee because they were the Champs. We won a world series with them.theres no doubt wat they can do.

This season will answer who I would rather have. If Lo Duca puts up .285, 15, 85 and Delgado .285, 45, 125... then it's an easy answer.

Um, we only had LoDuca a couple months and he produced plenty during the first half of that. Just because we won a world series with Pudge and Lee makes them great? How about when we had Lee and didn't win the world series? How about Pudge and Lee's respective 2004 teams not getting to the playoffs? Your logic el suxo.

this is a common theme with Paulie

It isn't that simple, the club would have been more financially weighed down if we decided to keep Pudge and Lee, chances are we probably wouldn't have resigned, signed, or even extended arbitration to some of the players we have the last couple of seasons.

Pudge in 2003 was good, but he wasn't that good.

It's almost even. Pudge is a better hitter than LoDuca by about the same magnitude that Delgado is a better hitter than Lee...in 2003 at least.

Defensively we would have been a bit better with Lee and Pudge, not because of Lee because a first baseman doesn't carry all that significant defensive value especially with Castillo at second. But Pudge is a good deal better than LoDuca defensively, but if LoDuca can have a good season...800 OPS I think it's about even.
