July 17, 200323 yr Check it out.....there is more about this article but not on Penny. A time to deal: Sox must wait for player pool by Michael Silverman Thursday, July 17, 2003 CHICAGO - As one and all know by now, the All-Star Game counted Tuesday night. Mucking up the works the most is the NL wild card race, where eight teams - led by Philadelphia, Arizona (one game behind), Montreal (four), St. Louis (four), Florida (4 1/2), Colorado (4 1/2) and Chicago (six) - still have a realistic excuse to act like contenders. From those teams, there are some key players who could become, or already are, available if and when a team falls out of contention. Among them are Montreal's Javier Vazquez, Los Angeles reliever Guillermo Mota and Florida starter Brad Penny. Link
July 17, 200323 yr Author Brad Penny will be heading to Boston.....After the postseason. If we make the post season but i dont think the Redsox will get penny they want a whole load of players and what are the chances Penny will go.
July 17, 200323 yr You want to hear a HOT RUMOR. Last week it was reported Boston and LA talked about a deal that would send LHP Odalis Perez for Trot Nixon. If I were the Marlins I tried to get in on that action maybe a three-way with Penny going to Boston, Trot to LA and Perez down to the fish

July 18, 200323 yr yea odalis perez would be awesome in this rotation. he would also give us an above average southpaw pitcher. so we can have the phenom southpaw and the good lefty between d train and odalis you coul 35 wins a season. maybe even more. ok i now i am rambling but you get the point
July 18, 200323 yr Oh, I'm so glad we have a realistic excuse to be contenders... So what Josh your saying that The Marlins are not contenders. If you noticed he mentioned the same teams that are at the top of The Wild Card so I really don't see where you are mad about this. Please Explain?
July 18, 200323 yr I read over on the LA board that they would trade Perez for Lowell. Is that a good trade? ________ I'm not answering that question. Some would say its be a good baseball move but a bad PR move. Plus LA would have to include another player(top prospect) or a player like Mota.
July 18, 200323 yr no man forget that i they ship lowell, then they ship all of the heart of these players to make a run at the post season. they know that so they woulnt do that
