July 22, 200322 yr This list is total bulls***... You can see The other top 180 if you go up on the site... http://www.vh1.com/shows/dyn/the_greatest/...event_id=865242
July 22, 200322 yr Jennifer Lopez is the most overrated piece of sh*t in the world. I absolutely hate her. She is just pathetic. Overrated. And the only reason shes on the list is cuz shes the biggest star in todays world. Arnold Schwarzenegger not even in the Top 50 is the biggest travesty of this list though. Jay Leno and Arnold should be in the top 50. Arnold at #78 is the rape of the natural world. Arnold is probably in the top 25 on a FAIR or ACCURATE LIST. Leno at #72 is also pathetic. Leno should be around 30-40.
July 22, 200322 yr Author I agree, I don't even know how the hell Kevin Bacon even made it on the list. How could he be #101?
July 22, 200322 yr hahaha, that list sucks and i'm not even american. what's up with pre 20th century icons? there's things that are timeless even if they are not the most popular things today. some of those very popular things today will be forgotten in a not so distant future.
July 22, 200322 yr but to tell you the truth, i don't know what's sadder, the list itself or the mentality of today's youth that would have such icons.
July 22, 200322 yr Britney shouldn't even have been in the top 20 maybe in the 90's or not even on the list. They should have called it the Most Popular People in Entertainment currently. But the greatest?
July 22, 200322 yr I agree, I don't even know how the hell Kevin Bacon even made it on the list. How could he be #101? Obviously you've never played "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" where almost anybody on earth can be associated with Kevin Bacon by six folks, here let me show how it's done using me: 1. I was on "Jeopardy" (no joke!) in December, 2000, where I met... 2. Alex Trebek who is the host of "Jeopardy!" and was the host when.... 3. Tim Daly appeared on "Celebrity Jeopardy!", and he was in "Diner" with... 4. Kevin Bacon. or 1. I had a girlfriend named Mary who .... 2. Had a friend named Laura who had dinner to discuss a movie role with ... 3. Robert DeNiro one night in Boca Raton, who was in "Sleepers" with... 4. Kevin Bacon. So there, I'm separated from Kevin Bacon twice over by three people. That's why Kevin Bacon is a pop culture icon. Try "playing" that game. Someone names a person (preferably an actor, but with some creativity you can name anyone) and they try to reach "Kevin Bacon" within six people. Here's another example using an actor: 1. Jason Biggs (Jim from American Pie) was in that movie with.... 2. Eugene Levy, who was in Club Paradise with .... 3. Robin Williams, who was in Awakenings with.... 4. Robert Deniro, who was in Sleepers with.... 5. KEVIN BACON! Go to The Oracle of Bacon at Virginia and try another name.
July 22, 200322 yr All of you have missed the point of the list. The KEY WORD in that list is "POP" not "ICON". These are pop culture references. A "pop culture" reference is not meant to be a cultural milestone. Orisha, you make me laugh when you see "the youth of today", dude, you still got 5 years before you hit 30! To me, you are still "the youth of today!"
July 22, 200322 yr Author I still I don't know how Gleason was ranked #175? Without him their is no TV, or at least good TV.
August 5, 200322 yr Lopez and Spears should NOT be on this list. They should be replaced with Spock and Scotty from Star Trek. :w00t
August 5, 200322 yr Lopez and Spears should NOT be on this list. They should be replaced with Spock and Scotty from Star Trek. :w00t I'll second you. but Simpsons only ranked #21? :o Homer alone would have made it on #1!!!!!!! :lol
