April 2, 200521 yr Marlins placed RHP Tim Spooneybarger on the 15-day disabled list following Tommy John surgery. It's been 18 months, but Spooneybarger hasn't yet fully recovered from Tommy John surgery. He'll be optioned to the minors once he's ready to start pitching in games. -- RotoWorld.com

April 2, 200521 yr Hopefully this was planned just to let him get his stuff back and this isn't another unexpected set back.
April 2, 200521 yr It has been nearly two years since reliever Tim Spooneybarger pitched in a game. He'll end that drought today when he takes on minor-leaguers. ''It's been a long time,'' said Spooneybarger, who hasn't pitched since June 11, 2003, and two months later underwent Tommy John surgery. ``I want to get on a mound with an umpire. I'm excited. I'm even a little nervous.'' Spooneybarger said he'll probably throw an inning this afternoon and likely will remain in Jupiter to pitch in extended spring training when the Marlins head south to open the regular season. The right-hander said he's hoping, if all goes well, he'll be ready for a promotion to the Marlins in about a month. ''I want to be there by the first of May,'' Spooneybarger said. ``But I've been disappointed before when I've put a timetable on my comeback.'' April 2, 200521 yr Sounds like they're just easing him back. Nothing wrong, just taking their time. He's not that important to the club, atleast not as important as AJ Burnett was to be last year, and we have Alfonseca, Jones, Reidling, etc.
