Ramirez signs 4 deal with Cubs

Aramis Ramirez - 3B - CHC

Cubs agreed to terms with third baseman Aramis Ramirez on a four-year, $44 million contract with an option for 2010.

With Tim Hudson, Lance Berkman and now Ramirez all signed, Jeff Cirillo is set to be the winter's top free agent. Our guess is that Ramirez won't be worth $11 million per year over the course of this deal, but the Cubs aren't really overpaying here. If he hit .300-30-100 again this year, he probably would have received at least $12 million per year as a free agent. Apr. 4 - 3:13 pm et

Seems like a good deal for me.

Poor Cirillo

Had a nice game today.. wouldn't be surprised to see him have a nice year this year in a return to the team that made him an all-star

and Aramis Ramirez is a great hitter.. Wouldn't be terribly surprised to see him be a finalist for the MVP.

He can opt out of the contract after 2006 if he's sick of Cubby Land. Good deal for Aramis he now has an ejection seat if the Cubs crash and burn the next two years.
