July 23, 200323 yr Following is excerpted from Rob Neyer at ESPN.com and his thoughts on 2nd half moves. Check out the link for his thoughts on the rest of the contenders. LINK The Marlins, on the other hand, do have a legitimate shot. Their lineup is solid, top to bottom, and all five of their starters have respectable (or better) ERAs. Aside from Alex Gonzalez's surprising power, I don't see anything particularly anomalous when I look at the Marlins, which makes me think they're for real. If they make another move, though, they should get a left fielder, as Todd Hollandsworth and rookie Miguel Cabrera just haven't been doing enough.
July 23, 200323 yr My buddy Rob...I'm gonna have to talk to him and tell him what a great job he did on that piece... More and more people taking notice...
July 23, 200323 yr Author He flamed out the Expos in the article too.... Double bonus. Where is that supposed "anti-florida" bias that everyone was complaining about in the National Media?
July 23, 200323 yr he prob read our forum, we always say LF is our only weakness(in the lineup).....we are some smart mofos. .........nice to get props from the media, our base is growing
July 23, 200323 yr Fish, please tell me this is a real quote I am turning into one of the greatest clutch-hitters of all time. - Derek Lee

July 23, 200323 yr Author Fish, please tell me this is a real quote Yes, it is. Derick Lee (one r in Derick) is a plumber from Westchester. It was suggested that my previous quote, which was somewhat critical of Derrick Lee, was in fact the actual cause of his poor play. If an effort to improve his play, I changed the quote.
July 23, 200323 yr He is right that in a week, we will know a lot more about the GM's than we do now. LF is our only glaring weakness, but with some of the other teams in front of us, it is going to be tough even if we fill that. I do like the prospect of the Dodgers falling out of the race soon, and I still think that the D Backs/Giants has a long way to go, and anything could happen there. The Phils are a good team and are the team to beat in my mind. We are a damn good team, but I dont know if we have enough to make up all the ground. It is exciting though...
