April 19, 200521 yr (Roughly from my Minor League posting this a.m.) I still think Lenny should step up by stepping down and making room for Little who has paid his dues. (And Little's record with the 'Topes has been more than extraordinary! If you don't know, check our Minor League forum. PCL Batter of the Week, 4/7 to 4/15, BA .436 with 5 HR's & 12 RBI's, Slugging .872) I don't really care about Lenny's pinch-hit record quest. He has already proven his excellent past. But, it is the past. A two year critic of Bill Robinson, I think he should retire and let Lenny be Hitting Coach. He couldn't do worse and we like him in the ClubHouse.
April 19, 200521 yr these are two revolutionary ideas we've never heard before. thank you for starting a new topic about them.

April 19, 200521 yr -Where would we start Little? -And since you feel Robinson is part of the problem, why would you want to expose Little to him and threaten regression?

April 19, 200521 yr I don't think Lenny is going to willing retire as soon as we bring Little up. But even if he did, then you have a guy who we don't know if he can coach, coaching. That would be threatening regression as well. We don't know how Robinson teaches, or really what the players think about him. All we see is our players play. So the only way we can judge him is look at the players results. Choi did a lot better here than in Chicago or LA. Encarnacion had his best season here. Most in the line-up has seen some sort of step up in their numbers while under Robinson's coaching. The Marlins' best offensive season is under Robinson. Who's to say Lenny isn't worse at the job? After all Bill has won a couple WS while the hitting coach. Either way, if you think Bill is the problem you are asking for regression it seems. And if you replace Robinson while Lenny, who we don't know if he can coach, you are also risking regression. Plus you really don't have Little anywhere to play him to give him ABs, and Conine or Easley would be the first off the bench to get ABs.
April 19, 200521 yr Little is 30+ years old.... no one is word about regression 747861 Well you figure his numbers would just drop from coming up to the majors. And then if he regresses because our hitting coach is so bad, you have a .250-.270 guy on the bench, who would be behind Conine and Easley, blocking Willingham, Dillon and the rest all the more.
April 19, 200521 yr Which is perfectly fine. Because Little is not a prospect and that .250-.270 is much better than Lenny's average.

April 19, 200521 yr I don't really care about Lenny's pinch-hit record quest. 747692 Lenny already holds the all-time pinch hit record, he's just going for his stupid milestone of an even 200 PH.
