Posted May 11, 200520 yr I don't write this with any glee. Nor any sour grapes. We all loved Carl when he was here, and wish him nothing but the best with the Yankees, and everyone knows of the mutual respect he and Jeffrey Loria share. My point is even the best pitchers have their off days. While we're ready to damn any member of our staff who performs at anywhere less than perfection, watching Pavano being slaughtered reminds me that no is perfect and not every pitcher has his best stuff every outing. Somewhere some Yankees fan is opining on a messageboard that Pavano stinks, s*ucks, doesn't deserve to be a Yankee, ought to be traded for a bag of peanut shells, etc. Others are saying they told you so, that Cashman/Steinbrenner were fools for giving him all that $$$ or even sign him in the first place. We Marlins fans know better. Carl is a first rate talent. He's just having a bad day. A thought we ought to remember when one our own has one too.
May 11, 200520 yr He's throwing nothing but fastballs. Ichiro reached base on an impossible splitter and he "struckout" Beltre on a splitter as well. It's ok, the Yanks are piling up runs too.
May 11, 200520 yr Gary Thorne said he has heard rumblings that people dont think he can hack it in NYC anyway, if not for ARod's awful error in the first, he would have had a 1-2-3 in this might be a different ball game and shame on Mike Hargrove for pitching Jamie Moyer today..... aboslutely retarded on his part
May 11, 200520 yr and shame on Mike Hargrove for pitching Jamie Moyer today..... aboslutely retarded on his part 770027[/snapback] Is it not Moyer's turn in the rotation? I don't understand what your problem is
May 11, 200520 yr Only in New York can you give up 5 runs in the top of the first inning and then your offense comes and matches that :lol
May 11, 200520 yr Author I guess my point was lost here, or you all are responding to finding it moved by some Mod who was too lazy to actually read my post, saw the headline and moved it to the Major League Baseball thread, BUT I want to reiterate the thought, which is that our (read Marlins fans who post here) expectation level for the Marlins pitching staff, both atarters and relievers is way too high, whether it be AJ or Dontrelle or Leiter and Jones. If you think Al Leiter looked bad lately you should have seen Carl getting lit up for five runs before the second out was made in the first inning. He had that look like we haven't seen since Boston. Even when Leiter was at his worst, he didn't have that "I think I just got broad-sided by a semi" look that we saw today.

His last game was vs. BOS on May 6th and he went 2.2 inning

May 11, 200520 yr W 2 L 2 ERA 4.80 Heck, Moehler has far better stats so far. No hard feelings to Carl.
