Im thinking about going out and getting the IPod mini..

But my question is,

Do you need to have (and pay for) ITunes to upload songs into the IPod? Or can use things such as Musicmatch or type of media players?

iTunes is the only program you can use to upload songs on to your iPod. It comes free with the iPod.

BTW, if you are going to shell out the money for the mini, go all the way and get the full 20GB version.

If you want, you can download iTunes already on apple's website and get used to it before you buy the iPod.

I suppose you mean to spend the extra $50 and get the regular 20GB iPod? :mischief2

Sorry I dont know of every third party program. But if you want to know that your iPod will always work and be compatible....use iTunes.
