It's always bugged me that baseball has tried to be too gentlemanly in these situations. If you get a meatball on 3-0, the dude should be all over it regardless if he's a superstar or the 25th man on the roster. Anyway, that's my rant for the night.

Most of the time the fourth pitch is a meatball right down the middle for strike one.
May 30, 200521 yr At times, however the chances of making an out by swinging at the 3-0 pitch are greater than the odds of getting a homer ball, so you're better off taking it unless you're absolutely sure you're going to do something sexy with it.
