June 13, 200521 yr YESTERDAY- I was enjoying my day, and had just gotten home, when i noticed the a good friend of mine was in his batting cage. I asked if i could pitch to him, i'd been working on my curve... About 20 minutes in, im enjoying myslef, getting all of my pitches over... and out of the blue... Put my fingers on for a curveball, lifted one leg, twisted to pitch.. and my knee completely gave.. Came right out of socket, i heard a loud crack and fell straight down... ****... his dad is a doctor, and apparently saw that everything is back in place... I can move it, but barely, ill see an orthopedist. I cant walk... cant even stand on both feet..man it hurts just ****ing sitting down... ulg... so im stuck here in my rolly chair for the next few days, maybe a week, who knows... im going up to Georgia in 9 days and i was REALLY looking forward to this trip.... COMMON WTF.... ulg... Thats my luck, and the lowlight of my day... TODAY: How much worse could things get? Well after a full four hours of straight sleep, i rolled my chair around until 9AM, and it was off to the Orthopedist. I had a pair of my dads old crutches, hes only 5'10, so using them blistered up my wrists, but that is NOT what im going to be complaining about heres my day so far, and its only noon: I was called in and it took the guy no time to tell me what was wrong. When i went back to pitch, the whole knee came out to the left side, tearing all the tendons on that side. Took Xrays and all that jazz... Perscription for a "Knee Imobilizer" and a pair of crutches for someone whos 6'3... Heres where my summer ends. ABSOLUTELY NO WALKING (wont even be able to bend knee) for two weeks. Our summer trip that i planned my self is cancelled. No ATL, no Tampa. MY ****ING TRIP!! COMMON WTF! NO NO NO NO... AHH... i feeling ****ing breaking down here... And the show goes on. How long till I can play ball?... oh only one month back into the school year... there goes any shot at making that team (school), my pitching arm will rot for the next 3 months. I cant even GO to any ****ing games (Marlins), not being able to walk... They wont let an open water bottle into the Pro, ive got no shot getting in there with crutches... So when will i start to be better, not including that fact that my whole right leg will be incedibly weak.... when else... looking like the 1st week of school... And i dont even want to think of whats going to happen to be not being able to get any exercise whatsoever im going to try and dodge that by practicly starving my self through summer.... I had atleast pitched and hit playing baseball everyday... Oh and to make things just a little better... Guess what today is? The 1st day without rain in 18 days. Yes, three weeks after the end of classes, it has stopped raining, and where will I be, on this chair, in this room, listning to my playlist, over, and over and over and over and over again. Oh and the worst part has to be me missing the trip.. it was a Marlins trip. I was going for the Fish vs ATl series, and then following them down to tampa... Now im looking for something to do... Thanks for all tips...
June 13, 200521 yr Damn that sucks man Were you going on your trip by yourself? I'm sure you could still go. Every stadium lets people with crutches in. Just the other day at the Nationals game there was this one kid probably no more than 9 on crutches. I'm pretty sure I saw two people last year at Pro Player too with them. I'm betting you could still go on your trip. This shouldn't stop it unless you were going by yourself and driving. Don't let somethin like this stop a real fun trip. Is better than sittin around at home at least.
June 13, 200521 yr Wow, that really sucks. I hope you feel better and hopefully you'll find something you can do for the next couple of weeks.
June 13, 200521 yr Buy the Suikoden Series of RPG's that should keep you busy for a long time. If your not a fan of video games I have no advice. Good luck to you and I hope everything comes out O.K.
June 13, 200521 yr Author Family trip, car would be full, and i cant bend the knee, plus it wold be a 14 hr drive, not do-able.. ulg... As for the RPGs... im gonna pass on videogames.. sorry... theyre fun and all... but nah
June 14, 200521 yr Sorry to hear about your knee troubles. I can comiserate with what you're going through. I've had my left knee pop out of it's socket...twice. Last year I had a bicycle crash and sprained that same knee pretty good (I was on crutches for a good 4 weeks). It's no fun trying to recover from those and get the knee back to feeling fine. Hang in there.
June 14, 200521 yr Well, you can still go to Marlin games. They let people with crutches into the stadium, I don't believe you even have to sit in the handicap section.
June 14, 200521 yr wow that sounds amazingly painful. like others have said, you can still go to marlin games. hope you fully recover as soon as possible.
June 14, 200521 yr Yeah, they would have to let you in. Otherwise, they would be risking an ADA lawsuit.
June 14, 200521 yr That sucks man, you just have to grin and bare it. It will go by quicker than you think. Just do what the doctor says, don't try to cheat the process. Last year, 3 weeks before school ended, I broke my collarbone during game 1 of a doubleheader on a web gem catch in foul territory... for 2 and a half months, I couldn't shower, only baths... I lived off wearing Adidas and Nike shirts, well I could only wear button downs (all the way down, not the polo with 3 buttons at the chest)... For the first 2 weeks, I had to sleep in a recliner lay-z-boy type chair in the living room. I missed 2 weeks of school, and came in to take my finals. The pain was the worst, my bone was twitching whenever I walked during the first 2 weeks. I had to wear a harness type brace for more than 2 months, and no one in my family could figure out for the life of them how to tighten it every other day, so I constantly made trips to the doctor for the nurse to tighten it. The brace dug into my skin and itched like crazy, causing blisters and bleeding. My biggest fear was that I'd have to go through the surgery Clint Barmes on the Rockies just had... and every 2 weeks when I'd go for xrays and a reexamination, the doctor would just say "Well you aren't breaking any records for the slowest healer, but it could be better"... I haven't played baseball since, but I definitely still love the game, but I do have second thoughts every so often

June 15, 200521 yr Lucky for me, it was my non-throwing side... so I haven't lost strength. I just play aggressive all game and I can't just tell myself to not dive for a grounder or a shallow fly, it is second nature to me... just do it, so I am afraid something could happen very easily again.
