June 29, 200521 yr The Cubs sent him down to open up a roster spot for Kerry Wood on Wednesday afternoon....got decent stuff but been injured a little bit this year after getting struck by a line drive in the opening week.

"It's very tough, especially for a guy who has given his all here and really busted it. He's one of the primary reasons we turned it around.'' June 29, 200521 yr Maybe I'll defer to Rferry here because I don't think I've ever seen Borowski pitch well at PPS but maybe he's got a a better perspective than I do on this guy. Does the guy have a contract that extends beyond 2005? He can't be worse than Bump or Riedling, or can he?
June 29, 200521 yr Borowski can be decent when he has his control -- he only throws around 87-88 MPH, but if he spots it he can be effective. His best pitch is a slider. The problem with him is if he doesnt have his control he gets pounded. If the Cubs eat most/all of his salary i'd take a flyer on him -- it sure as hell beats rushing yet another youngster to see if he can magically save our bullpen.

June 29, 200521 yr Well, I have a soft spot for him because he used to pitch for the local minor league club. He's a Rudy Seanez type which is damning with faint praise. He needs his breaking stuff to work to be the shutdown stopper we need, but he's usually better than Riedling has been this year and offers greater upseide than many in the 'pen. I don't think it's worth taking on the contract (and eating Riedling's) though right now though.
