Twins trade for Mariners' Boone

By Ken Rosenthal - SportingNews

The Mariners have traded second baseman Bret Boone to the Twins, the Sporting News has learned. The Mariners will receive cash or a player to be named.

The Twins will pay only a prorated portion of the minimum salary for Boone's services the rest of this season; Seattle will assume the rest of his $8 million salary.

Boone, who was designated for assignment on July 3, was batting .231 with seven homers and 34 RBIs. Boone is a career .266 hitter with 252 home runs and 1,018 RBIs. He played the past four and half seasons in Seattle.
