August 8, 200520 yr Mordy will be brought up in September. He needs just 10 more days on the roster to qualify for the better Pension. He will be an asset to the bench and the club-house. And while I never wish an injury on anyone... I wouldn't mind our 3B coach Jeff Cox getting an ingrown toe-nail and, thus, unable to coach 3rd. I'd love to see Mordy coaching 3rd at least a few games in September. My choice for '06 Manager is Girardi. With Mike Mordecai coaching 3rd and, of course, Perry Hill at first.
August 8, 200520 yr If we make the playoffs, then McKeon will be brought back. Mordy might be a player/coach. Hopefully the Fish will give him 1 or 2 ABs. At least, he is a good bunter. Also, Girardi is the heir apparent to Torre and he will be a Yankee manager one day. If we hire anyone, it should Fredi Gonzalez (Braves). Jeff Cox is just not very good.
August 8, 200520 yr Author This season as Manager of the Jamestown Jammers is really important for Mordy's "development." I wouldn't change that for anything. But, enough, after this Season. I think Mordy will learn and develop even better as a 3B Coach or Bench Coach (depending on the '06 Manager's preference for a Bench Coach). I'm not conviced Mordy will be ready for Major Management for at least a few years. But, at the very least, he will provide that "Ozzie" spirit that we sorely lack. Incidentally, Mordy has been working as 3B Coach while Managing the Jammers. (That info' from the Jammer's Web-site.)
