August 8, 200520 yr Red Sox designated outfielder Jose Cruz Jr. for assignment. Maybe another trade is on the way. We assume it's either that or Cruz did something to upset management. He was 3-for-12 with a double since joining the Red Sox. It looks like we'll probably see a lot of Roberto Petagine at first base and Kevin Millar in right field until Trot Nixon returns. - Rotoworld
August 9, 200520 yr Jose Cruz Jr. - OF - BOS Terry Francona tried to explain the Red Sox designating Jose Cruz Jr. for assignment yesterday. ``With Gabe (Kapler) and (Kevin) Millar, we have some options,'' Francona said. ``Sometimes your hand gets forced a little bit.'' That's one of those answers that seems fine until you actually think about it, since the Red Sox had Kapler and Millar before they acquired Cruz in the first place.
