He is now (4-1) with a 2.73 ERA in AA. -Chris Resop pitched 1 scoreless inning, picking up save #21. (2.18 ERA overall) A------ -James Russ pitched 7 innings strong, allowing only 3 hits, 0 ER. He is now (9-7) with a 3.44 ERA. -Carlos Martinez pitched 1 inning, striking out 2. He recorded his 17th save on the year. -Brian Cleveland went 2-4 with a grand slam (4 RBI). -Restko (.306) and McCann (.284) each went 2-5. -Daniel Barone is now (2-0) with a 1.77 ERA after pitching 6 inning, allowing 3 ER. -Chris Mobley picked up his organization-best 30th save! His ERA stands at 2.52 now. -Jeff Van Houten went 2-3 with 2 RBI and 2 walks. He is hitting .313 now. ROOKIE----- -Matt Kutler went 3-4 last night, raising his average to .339. -Kyle Winters pitched 5 innings, striking out 7. He allowed only 1 ER but took the loss.

August 12, 200520 yr Author Resop should be promoted to AAA, along with Hermida. 899694[/snapback] It is better to keep big pitching prospects in AA, then just promote them to the majors. Why would you send a top notch guy to Albuquerque's altitude where he will lose confidence? I think Resop and Hermida will just stay in AA until they are ready for the majors which should be next year.
August 12, 200520 yr Hermida and Resop will never see the light of day in AAA...both will be headed to the big leagues by next year.....right now they are staying together for the AA championship.....how sweet that would be
August 13, 200520 yr I concur, but Ive always wondered how much stock MLB GMs put in a minor league team winning the championship vs calling a guy up in situations where it could easily go either way on the guys call up.

If you look around the league and at the teams' minors systems you will notice one thing. Most of the future talent is in AA and never see the light of AAA. AAA is becoming a place for life long minor leaguers who will never see much light in the majors, or full of ex-major leaguers who have lost it. AAA is really now there in case of someone getting hurt that you have a vetran replacement if need be. Its a de-evolution of AAA really.
