Posted August 10, 200321 yr Sunday, August 10 Only the fourth in International League history -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Associated Press PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- Pawtucket's Bronson Arroyo pitched the fourth nine-inning perfect game in the 120-year history of the International League on Sunday to lead the Red Sox to a 7-0 win over the Buffalo Bisons. Arroyo struck out nine in the 101-pitch outing. "I didn't feel especially great in the bullpen," Arroyo said. "But after you get through three or four innings of easy work and you haven't thrown many pitches you kind of keep rolling and rolling." Arroyo went to a three-ball count on only three batters and allowed just four balls out of the infield. Arroyo struck out pinch-hitter Mark Little and Luis Garcia to open the ninth. Scott Pratt grounded to first baseman Andy Abad, who tossed the ball to Arroyo covering first to end the game. The closest Buffalo came to a hit was in the sixth inning when Garcia hit a long shot that center fielder Adrian Brown caught on the warning track about a foot from the fence. The league's last nine-inning perfect game was thrown by Pawtucket's Tomo Ohka, now with the Montreal Expos, who beat the Charlotte Knights 2-0 on June 1, 2000.
