August 13, 200322 yr We can talk about this forever on who is the better catcher but could this be the hump to get Castro ahead of Redmond on the Depth Chart?
August 13, 200322 yr I've been saying it all along I want to see more of Castro. I wouldn't even mind if they split time on Pudge's days off I just want to see him get some starts.
August 13, 200322 yr i think he should split time with Red, but it's not like Red has being sucking... he has played well recently too
August 13, 200322 yr if Pudge hadn't come here, Castro was set to be the starting catcher this season with Redmond as backup. I'm not exactly sure why Castro hasn't gotten some of the backup starts along with Redmond.... For whatever reason, I don't think they'll bump Castro ahead of Redmond. Next year if both are still here Castro will be the starter, don't worry.
August 13, 200322 yr ^^ i hope he will start , If Castro would be a starter he has the abilty to be an All Star , in 43 AB he has 3 HR and 14 hits
August 13, 200322 yr This is a good, healthy debate. Good and healthy because no matter what, this situation is good for the Marlins. With Redmond you get a true pro who knows his craft and gets the job done. He is a winner. With Castro you get a wealth of talent that has yet to be utilized. As far as catchers go, gentlemen, we have 3 who could be on any roster. Any. 2 are bona fide starters, Redmond you can make a case for. I think you have to keep going with Pudge/Red and find ways to get Castro some key ABs and an occasional start. Next year is his, and we are almost forced to handle him like a rookie we are developing. Also, we can keep Castro around for cheap which means more money to spend on Lowell and others we need to keep around. But what we saw last night is the kind of thing you see in championship teams, not just playoff contenders. Enjoy it...
