September 20, 200521 yr On Saturday afternoon, our family watched the Florida Marlins suffer what had to be one of the team's most crushing defeats. After the game, we headed to Conine's Clubhouse Grill to attend a fundraiser for victims of Hurricane Katrina. Less than two hours after what had to be a personally devastating loss for Dontrelle Willis, he walked into the restaurant with a smile on his face and spent a good deal of time meeting fans, signing autographs and posing for pictures. Later, he was joined by Juan Pierre, the organizer of the event. He, too, was able to put the afternoon behind him to meet and greet, sign and pose and even serve drinks at the bar. Obviously, these two fine young men understand what real devastation and loss are and were able to look past their personal defeats to help people in need. What wonderful role models for our children. They are true winners and heroes. They deserve our admiration and respect. FRAN JACKSON, Miami I love to read this.
