Chacon out...

Featured Replies

Shawn Chacon , who was scheduled to pitch Thursday vs. Penny, has been put on the DL. In his place will start Jose Jimenez(1-6, 5.81, 20 saves, 62.0 IP, 31 K, 21 BB.)

I think we will do good in this game :thumbup :thumbup

I don't know about that Jimenez struggles against lefty's but we have a lot of right handed batters so I think this game is a toss up.

Didnt Jiminez have a 7.00 era as a closer?

Even if he did he probably had a 3 run lead everytime he came in so he probably gave up a lot of runs but did just enough

Guys not so fast Jimenez has a no-no under his belt as a Card back in 99'. Soooo it's not like the guy never was a starter.

dumb move by the Rockies IMO

why not bring up a youngster?

they are clearly out of the race, so why pitch with a reliever who sucks and may not even be there next year?

but, i wont complain :D

Escobar from toronto was horendous as a closer as well this season, but has been lights out after switching to a starter. They seem to be similar types of pitchers as well. Jimenez is not as big a pushover as you all are making him out to be. Also, besides San Diego series, Marlins hitters have been letting mediocre pitchers look like aces recently.

escobar was lights out for maybe 5 straight starts, since then he has been mediocer

Jimenez is a good pitch but since he throws the sinker it stays flat and over the plate. I think if he can play somewhere else he would be a way better pitcher

I am just hoping to take one game from the Rockies this series. Rockies are one of the best home teams in baseball so it's going to be a tough series. We are already down 1-0

I gotta feeling encarnacion is gonna rack him!

He Probally will he hits Breaking pitches real good and Jimenez throws that Heavy sinker of his....

Yes, I think that Wilson Alvarez would apply.

how does wilson alvarez apply? Wilson alvarez is overachieving this season. He is nowhere near the likes of Escobar or Jimenez. Bad comparison for a Future GM.

Hmm, maybe he was talking about the final sentence.

Could that possibly be it?
