December 30, 200520 yr Author I was shown the texas board, and thought it was hugely amusing. I thought I would share it, they are taking USC comparisons like ESPN but for other things.. Here is one below I liked and the link to them. http://forums.hornfans.com/php/wwwthreads/...=0&fpart=1&vc=1 The obvious reference is missing. TROJANS. The 2005 Trojans would have easily defeated the Greeks on the fields of Ilium, as opposed to the 4th century BC Trojans.. Hector lost to Achilles when everyone knows Reggie Bush would have defeated the demi-god. That is hilarious
December 30, 200520 yr This is from Dan Shanoff on Page 2: Actually"] Wow. The Gators were good that year. I still think the '95 Nebraska team is the best since I've been alive.
December 31, 200520 yr I haven't been paying attention to this nonsense, but of the teams I've seen them "match" USC up against (95 Nebraska, 91 Washington, 02 Ohio State, 01 Miami, 97 Michigan) I can say with confidence that USC would lose to at least three. The only one I'm not sure of is the Washington team, because I never saw them play. Michigan could go either way. The 1995 Nebraska team was completely and totally unstoppable. They took a UF team that was incredible on offense and ripped them to shreds. They, along with the 01 Miami team, are the two teams I consider best I've ever seen in college football. Granted that's not the longest of tenures. But Nebraska was scary good. They could have beaten a handful of NFL teams that year. The 2001 Miami team was the same way. They had the best offensive line in college football history. Though they didn't have Bush, the Clinton Portis-Willis McGahee tandem was incredible (Willis was FB that year, so they'd routinely be in the backfield simultaneously). The WR corp was the typical UM corp of incredible playmakers up and down the chart, including of course the rather large tight end. And the defense was spectacular itself. People forget that in 2001 there was a huge issue over who should play UM in the Rose Bowl. Why do people forget this? Because UM made Nebraska look like a JV High School team. The defense was just as talented as the offense, and though they had a couple brainfart games they made all the plays they needed to make and were just as big of playmakers as the offense. You can see the names of that defense plastered all over NFL teams now. I still, to this day, don't see how anyone skips over the 2002 OSU team so much. I mean, setting aside the outcome of the Fiesta Bowl game because it's not part of this debate, they played one of the greatest games of all time against a UM team that some were arguing was better than the 01 team. They won every game on their schedule, and they played a tough one at that. They had 10+ players drafted the very next year, I believe either close to or slightly beating how many UM had drafted that year. The OSU team also played to its competition level - it didn't blow teams out all the time, but it always won. Always. Margin of victory doesn't mean sh*t, a 12-0 team is always better than an 11-1 team. The OSU team, along with the UM and Nebraska teams, would surely beat the USC teams. Some maybe would beat them by a TD or two, maybe a couple others would be closer. But they would win. All three. Michigan, yanevaknow. They had a great defense but that team never really awed me. UW, I don't know. Either way, this is stupid. USC hasn't won this year.
December 31, 200520 yr they didn't say the USC team would beat the 2001 canes.....one guy said the canes would win, the other guy said USC would win the fans voted that the canes would win 60% to 40%
