January 14, 200620 yr I'll limit it to five. Top five matches. Doesn't have to be you there, in person. But at least watched. So, don't go all lame and name "awesome" ppv matches that you haven't seen, but want to see. My top 5: 1. Rock/Hogan, Wrestlemania. Best. Match. EVER. At least in my opinion. I have never, and may never, see that many people THAT into a match in my life again. And both were able to go with it and finish the match the way it was supposed to finish but with reversing roles. Watching Rock transfrom from the supposed wide-eyed babyface, wrestling his favorite icon, to the heel beating on a legend/old man, is still awesome. 2. Angle/Jericho/Benoit 2 Fall Triple Threat for the European and Intercontinental Title(s): I didn't like it as much as the time because my favorite (Angle) of the bunch lost (without getting pinned or submitting, no less), but looking back it was just awesome seeing these three in their prime, which we'll never see again (Jericho gave up on being a good wrestler shortly after losing the World Title). Plus, it's dork Kurt. THAT guy ruled. 3. Smackdown three team tag team title challenge. Angle/Benoit, Mysterio/Edge and the Guerrero's! This was the height of Smackdown's crappiness, when the whole show was awful EXCEPT for the tag meatches between any combination of these three teams. You could pick any of the matches they had and each and every one was good and utilized the strengths of the teams involved and with these guys you got to see chain-wrestling, suplexes, submission holds, high flying moves and straight cheatin' ALL at it's finest. 4. Angle/Triple H No Way Out match with Special Guest Referee Stephanie McMahon. The Angle/Stephanie/Hunter storyline was flat awesome. And then you had this match, which you thought would be gimmicked, especially with Stephanie as the ref, and they had a good, classic, main event style match. Then, shortly afterwards, for no reason (well, the reason was Stephanie and Triple H really started dating), they stopped the storyline. 5. Austin/Jericho for the Undisputed Title, WWE Vengaence. Probably the best singles Jericho match where he also beat Rock the same night, as Austin beat Kurt to face Jericho in the finals. Just a really well-wrestled match and you get both men's spots (Jericho's cheating to win the belt is also of note). I could have easily put Guerrero/Lesnar on here, or any number, but this one really stands out. I'm not a Jericho fan, because I don't think the guy ever lived up to his potential, but this is one of the few times he was able to shine.
January 14, 200620 yr The one that comes to mind is Angle v. Shane, King of the Ring I think? They both put so much into the match, and it was so creative and different as well.
January 14, 200620 yr Rock-Mankind back when they were feuding produced some great ones. The I quit match at the Rumble was unbelievable.
January 15, 200620 yr Author The one that comes to mind is Angle v. Shane, King of the Ring I think? They both put so much into the match, and it was so creative and different as well. Oh, man, that one was just brutally sick! Especially since they had that King of the Ring glass that Angle was supposed to suplex Shane through, and they couldn't get it right. I swear, Shane landed on that concrete on his head about three times before they get that right. Actually, ALL of Shane's matches were good, but you're right, in terms of total brutality that one might be tops. Rock-Mankind back when they were feuding produced some great ones. The I quit match at the Rumble was unbelievable. Another great series. I had trouble not putting this, a Rock/Austin match or the Rock/Triple H Iron Man on here (which I thought was BETTER in terms of actual wrestling moves, than Shawn/Bret).
January 16, 200620 yr 1. Triple H vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin, 3 Stages of Hell, No Way Out 2001 2. Triple H vs. Cactus Jack, Street Fight, Royal Rumble 2000 3. Eddie Guerrero vs. Brock Lesnar, WWE Championship, No Way Out 2004 4. Triple H & Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Chris Jericho & Chris Benoit, WWE Raw, 2001 5. Kurt Angle vs. Brock Lesnar, Ironman Match, Smackdown, 2003? My list is all from 2000 and beyond, I didn't really get into the wrestling aspect until then. I got back into in 1998 because of Dude Love and was more into the characters and such. Anyway, this list would probably be different every time I made it. The 3 Stages of Hell was just incredible. Austin and HHH at their very best for 45 minutes. HHH-Cactus storyline was awesome and the match lived up to the hype. In a perfect world, this would have been Foley's last match. Also had the great moment of the Rock nailing HHH with a chair, saving Foley who was cuffed. Callback to the Rumble the year before. It's the little things. Eddie-Brock has kind of moved up the list for sentimental reasons, but it really is a great match and the title celebration is one of my favorite WWE moments of all-time. 2 Man Power Trip loses the titles to Jericho and Benoit was marred by HHH blowing out his leg, but this match was still awesome. Crowd was so into it, they hated Trips/Austin so much (from their absolute destruction of the Hardys AND Lita with chairs) and the place just erupted when Jericho and Benoit finally got those belts off them. And then Lesnar/Angle, which gets overlooked because it was a taped match on Smackdown. Best of the ironman's I thought. And the ending was so great. Angle as the face, Lesnar in the ankle lock, Angle begging for the tap, doesn't come, time runs out. Just a great finish to a stellar match.
January 16, 200620 yr The first ones that come to mind are HBK/Ramon Ladder Match (the first one) at WM, and Angle/Eddie and Triple H/Benoit/HBK at WMXX.
January 16, 200620 yr I would have to say it was 1979/80 would be the first time I saw a live wrestling match at the Miami Beach convention center when my Dad took me,my brother, and a friend for doing well in school. The last match that night I remember it well was between Harley Race and Dusty Rhodes best out of three fall. To me that will always be the best match just because of that moment. The more current one that makes me laugh was in the 90's between the Rock and Mr.Ass in the Kiss my ass match. Hilarious!!
